@isitandwonder @expo63 if we’re having a Smalltown Boy moment, here’s the original video. A little masterpiece, full of the provincial misery of early 80s Britain (a working-class answer to all those glamorous Hollinghurst swimming pools?) but cut through with all that brilliant Somerville anger and passion and allowing a little bit of optimism at the end.  It came out in 1984, so it can’t make it into #1983verse @expo63 but maybe it’s about that new world coming, when the page turned.
