I went home early this morning to make coffee and breakfast and on the drive back at 9am I saw a fox at the curb with a soggy lookin dead squirrel in its mouth, dragonflies hovering over the car in front of me, and the when I was walking the puppy there was a flicker or sapsucker hopping around and up a nearby tree so it was a very nature heals type of morning i guess? Right before the pinkeye?

Omfg what is going on with my eyes now?

Power is still out at Dog House. I had to come home for coffee because I didn't really get a lot of sleep. Like 11 to 3, then about an hour, and I've been up since 5 with a short doze time in their lazy boy chair, dreaming that I was at my cousins'/aunt's house and they were kind of ignoring me but then I realized the power was back on so I was happy, only to wake up and find that the power was not on and I needed coffee.

Ironically, the house that the tree fell on has power, but we do not.

I came home to drop off my cold items, eat dinner, charge my phone, charge my battery pack to bring back and watch some of the Phillies game and see if I could bring back anything helpful. A candle and a lighter?

I went to walk a dog, then a cat visit and then I went home for a bit. As soon as I got into the shower a violent storm blew thru and I waited it out at home, while killing flies in my house (every year I get a mysterious ant infestation which ends as abruptly as it started, and then a fly infestation, which usually happens in June but I guess the heat came a bit late this year? I always look for a dead something somewhere and never find the source of the flies).

One of my better artifactual days, at least one was a little too easy (though there was a bit of a red herring)

One thing I really can't stand about dog walking 2 dogs is when they aren't at the same energy level. Here we have 2 pugs. One is 6 and the other is a year +. The 6 year old is rotund and very snorty and really neither of them should be out much when it's super hot. But he doesn't seem to ever want to go on a walk, it could be because his harness is very snug. But he will hide and make it difficult to get him geared up. The puppy loves going for walks. So when I do get them both out, they have different leashes. On is retractable, and one is the webbing type you can wrap around your wrist. As you can imagine it's difficult to maneuver the 2 at once, and these dogs are STRONG when they pull. The other day they lunged for the neighbor as I was tired away to close and lock the door and they nearly took my arm out of its socket. Same thing yesterday when they just wanted to go toward another neighbor's house, and they weren't even outside. Then the older one just doesn't want to go far, even to the end of the street, and so we turn and go home. So, at least in the mornings when my patience is low, I have just been taking the puppy for a walk. He loves it! He'd go probably a lot farther than we go, but if it's muggy I don't want to overexert his smushy face either. This morning it's damp but cooler so w went a little farther. His problem is he is not good with strangers so I have to be aware of anyone nearby. He's so cute of course you'd want to pet him, but he wants to bite you. So anyway, that's why I encourage them when they are acting like absolute maniacs in the house or the yard, so the older one at least gets some exercise. And the younger one expels some more energy.

it's already July 11th and I am crrraaawwwwlllingggg thru the 2 books I am reading. These pugs do not allow for much reading peace, and I'm deadly tired besides. I keep trying to read before bed and getting nowhere except Dreamland. The Ben Franklin bio I expected to go slowly. Maybe not this slowly though. Maybe when I go home I'll bring the other book (the advance copy of Dèy by Edwidge Danticat) and see if I can get a chunk read.
