I've forgotten *my own birthday* before. There are several years of my life just straight up missing. In the past I've forgotten silly little frivolous things like NAMES OF LOVED ONES or WHERE MY HOUSE IS. But obviously none of that was important. Fucking awful, ableist thing to say.
my that one friend that's too woke opinion is that in a similar vein to how you almost never see fat people or women without makeup on tv you never really see anyone experiencing incontinence issues unless it's a humiliating comedic moment at their expense and that's kind of scary
like sorry to be the bearer of bad news but people piss themselves. when they're afraid. when they've experienced mental and/or physical trauma and their body needs a way to express that stress. when they've been sexually assaulted. when they get older and their muscles start to wear out from a lifetime of service. a not insignificant majority of people Will experience incontinence in their lifetimes and while there are steps you can take to manage it for your own comfort and others', there's simply no moral dimension to it whatsoever. & like i'm not saying every show and movie needs checkhov's bed wetting scene but we have seriously got to get more okay with acknowledging that somehow.

being disabled and lgbt is such a horrible curse because you will see the most ableist take on earth online and you're like "oh surely this is some right-wing fascist loser" and then you look at the person who said it and there's pronouns in their bio. and it's like, how did we get here? but the reality is that a lot of abled people (and often disabled people who are intolerant of different disabilities) are just not even willing to confront the idea that they are capable of punching down on other marginalized groups
like i don't know who needs to hear this but you are Not as progressive as you think you are if you're saying stuff like the R slur, "jobless behavior", making fun of nonverbal people, mocking physical differences, using psychotic as an insult, or calling people "lazy" for using disability aids. even if you're gay!

the only advice we can really give to questioning systems is this: do NOT rely on social media as your primary source of research. actually look at academic and medical resources before even thinking about looking at social media for help.
one of the first things we did when suspecting we have DID was look up medical documentation. this website is the one we recommend to everyone, even curious singlets who want to learn. it's personally helped us a lot, and it cites further reading material as well if you want more resources.
our personal hierarchy of information is as follows: medical/academic resources as a primary, experiences of others as a secondary, and other online posts as tertiary. focus on the work done by professionals who researched CDDs, then you can start looking into what people online have said about their experiences, but I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to look at medical research documents before anything else. if you rely solely on social media for everything, you will fall victim to a plethora of misinformation, because there's a lot of that in regards to CDDs, no matter how hard we try to stop it.
please do not only listen to Tumblr for information on CDDs I beg of you.
