Whoever wrote that Vanguard message did so with shaking hands, between sobs & swigs of bourbon straight from the bottle.
They're right, though. Now is exactly the wrong time to make dramatic investment moves. Everybody's shit is doing the same thing; unless you need your retirement money in the next twelve months or whatever, you're better off leaving it alone and waiting for the eventual correction. Like, this is not a comforting lie, this is good advice!
Your long term investments will be fine. Recessions come and go, the stock market will drop and then it will climb again.
If you are going to need to liquidate your money from your stocks and shares within the next 1-2 years, you should have taken that money out a month ago. If you don't need it for five years or more, sit tight and do nothing.
when i say i’m from ukraine, people assume i live somewhere else now. when i say i live in ukraine, they assume i’m somehow immune to war, and there’s a logical division between a ukrainian they chat with on discord and a ukrainian on the news. bitches my yaoi is written from the bomb shelter
Just an ordinary day in Ukraine. You live on the very edge of being killed at any moment.
In case foreign people wonder how is it possible to keep living under attacks. Well, I remind you air defence systems work. But that doesn’t normalise the existence of course.
The tag is awesome, I apply it to everything I draw.
one of the formative memories from war for me was when i was having a work meeting and someone asked "hey Coffee, what's that odd noise in your background? can you tune it off?" and my sleep deprived self cheery replied "sorry, this is shooting and detonation from an air raid, I can mute myself if it's too noticeable, I'm almost done with this report".
for me, it was so common it was... well. just there. only when the meeting fell into shocked silenceand then i received a couple of questions i realized that people just assumed "i'm from Ukraine" doesn't actually mean "i'm in Ukraine still"
also yeah, creating something to keep oneself sane is very, very, very crucial nowadays...
also keeping on living is the best fuck you to ruzzians considering they want us all dead
me developing my tertiary characters like:

rewatching shadow and bone:
malina forever
literally have cried every single time mal says "meet you in the meadow" in ep 1. i think this is my 3rd or 4th time
inej asking jesper for a favor and jesper being like "anything" and inej being like "i need you to kill a man for me" and jesper clearly not wanting to but also going, "like i said, of course"--like he really meant it when he said he'd help her; he meant it in a totally unconditional way. i know everyone loves kaz/inej together but her friendship with jesper is golden too
thoughts on The Killer:
I liked it!
I think the first 23 minutes were my favorite; I loved the contrast of the intense silence of his world and the ceaseless overlay narration of his thoughts. That's what it feels like to just, like, be a person most of the time. I feel like narration overlays in movies have been dismissed as cheesy in recent years, and this showed that they can be done well.
We need more disconcertingly terse characters in movies??
"Interesting."
The Tilda Swinton scene was awkward because she was so much more interesting than him that it felt disjointed, misplaced, like obviously the movie was supposed to be about her.
From the perspective of this being a movie that actually has nothing to do with mormor, I didn't "get" it? I don't know. I didn't understand why it was made, I guess. What was the story's purpose? I both liked it and felt like it was telling a story I couldn't quite grasp. I'm not actually interested in killers/hitmen, and I don't understand why we portray hitmen in such glamorized/unrealistic ways in our media, so that might be it. Like, this isn't really a movie about a killer because killers are not really like this. So then it's really just about a nihilistic white man who feels superior, and I'm not interested in those kinds of people, either.
From the perspective of mormor: This was perfect??? So many fanfic elements put onto our movie screen: Sebastian Moran as a very clever sniper with an outrageous net worth—are you kidding me????
Probably wouldn't have gotten through it if not for pretending it was Sebastian, honestly.
quick in the tags who were the first characters you ever looked at and said "I could fix him"
half-formed idea where jim meets sebastian by hiring sebastian to track down and target Moriarty. jim's curious about how close to the center of the web the best hitman in Europe can get. it turns out to be blade-against-the-throat close.
the movie with micheal fassbender playing a sniper rifle wielding assassin is coming out on friday and i am. feeling so normal and calm and sane and average about it

am i the only one about to watch The Killer while pretending it's about sebastian moran
ive never been dazzled by mike flanagan's clumsy treatment of race, but there's something really deranged about a white man writing a story about a sackler-esque family, but they're not white, they're multiracial, and it's specifically the Black woman who is corrupt and duplicitous in the medical field
I don't know if I do like diversity when it's like "representation win! this family of soulless billionaire ghouls who clearly would be the embodiment of white, straight privilege, is improbably multiracial and queer!
people are already like "dOnT yOu dArE sAy tHiS iS bAd qUeEr rEp" but actually, yes, this is textbook bad queer rep. it's not a mind trick where it's so bad it's good somehow. it's a bunch of hedonistic cheating bisexuals. it really is just that trope.
"queer rep doesnt always have to be about rainbows and puppies!" no but i grew up with exclusively bad queer rep, thanks, and i know what bad queer rep looks like. i have in fact never lived in the universe where queer rep has been primarily rainbows and puppies. must be nice there i guess??
ok im four episodes in and fall of the house of usher remains a huge disappointment
extreme negativity below:
i finished it and i actually cant believe how fucking stupid that was
the finale was really just paragraphs of political hot takes like a screen reader of a twitter feed??
and then bodies fall from the sky in a visual representation of the victims of the opioid crisis which
just
as someone who has thought a lot about how to tell a story about the opioid crisis, and as someone who lost family to it, that aint it.
the AI living consciousness thing manifested just so that it could go NEVERMORE a bunch of times??
the references were so corny they made me physically curl up in on myself with secondhand embarrassment
i just
i just cant even believe how bad that was
we're in a cursed era of american storytelling. we just forgot how to tell stories that arent poorly disguised npr articles

almost 2 hours in and fall of the house of usher is boring...it doesnt feel like a ghost story at all, and i dont care about rich people. at a certain point "it's all build up" can't justify the story not falling within the promised genre
A couple of Star daddies ✨
