my self diagnosing process is usually something like:
Learn about disorder
Find every post about it strangely relatable
Do a ton of research, usually several knights of the week, month, or several months, and slowly realize I definitely have this disorder
Deny I have the disorder for at least a year cause I’m not entirely sure, continue to learn more and still relate to everything I see relating to it
MAYBE accept I have it and start talking about it normally (happens slowly) (starts out by constantly saying “I might have [disorder]” after complaining to friends about symptoms of [disorder])
Yes because it can be incredibly expensive to get officially diagnosed and it can impact work and parenting etc. Let me ask you a question. Why would anyone *want* to be autistic if they weren’t? It’s a disability. Some parts may be fun and quirky but if that’s what you want it’s far easier to identify as a manic pixie dream girl (gender neutral). “For attention” —no that’s abusive thinking that denies people the care they need and deserve because it would cost your pride too much. People don’t self-diagnose for attention. There are far easier ways to get attention.

So I'm in this discord server. It's sort of like a hangout space, but it's called a "social experiment". In an offshoot, 2 or 3 people were talking about nonbinary people. They first said "all nonbinary people have no gender" which is obviously false, that's just agender people, and they eventually were talking about how they would not use neopronouns and just use they/them for anyone who said they don't like they/them and use neopronouns because, and I quote, "They/them is a universal pronoun". They then said they would just avoid talking to them entirely.

I’m a binary trans guy myself but I have friends who are non-binary, and every time I introduce one of them to someone (especially my family ffs) the response I almost always get is “are they a they?”

The thing in that trailer for that movie where the person is on a bus and gets stabbed and the people watching are like "he stabbed her!!!" And the person who got stabbed is like "THEM. HE STABBED THEM. MY PRONOUNS ARE *THEY/THEM*!!!" and it's framed as something to be laughed at or ridiculed
