Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
It’s very clear that you all have strong feelings about Tumblr and about this change. We hear you. The passion people have for how Tumblr works is one of the things that makes this place special.
As this rolls out over the next few days and you explore it, we’ll keep reading your replies and reblogs, so please keep sharing your questions, concerns, and ideas.
Your creativity has always been the heart of Tumblr, whether you’re the original poster or adding something brilliant in the reblogs, and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.
If you’d like to talk directly beyond the comments, leave a reply and we’ll follow up with as many of you as we can. We want to work with you to make Tumblr better.
Hey staff. This one really needs to be reversed. Tumblr isn't built for a quote-retweet equivalent like this.
Ultimately, it just feels a lot worse to use, conversations are more segmented, you can't keep track of things by referring to the original post anymore, artists lose traction faster on their original posts this way, the community feels smaller as a result, and jokes don't land the same.
This wouldn't affect me, I could easily out-reply most users and take attention away from the original poster - this is a bad thing, and it's another reason why it shouldn't exist.
If you value the community, you should have tested and sought feedback PRIOR to pushing it out as a public release. This makes tumblr less novel, less comfortable and more like twitter (in a bad way)
@staff I have a very legitimate question.
How will you see the feedback on this post, if after the rollout happens, you don't see any interactions past the initial post. Very large swathes of this website don't follow the staff account, or get their news because someone else reblogged the staff message onto their dashboard after your initial posting.
-- signed someone who follows the staff account and didn't see this until three different people reblogged different versions of it onto my dashboard, and who is currently adding my commentary on someone else's reblog, not your original post.
Cursed tumblr continues, but in the wrong ways.
Rambling: I think I've had it in the back of my mind, that Sky is gradually becoming a different game than what it was when I first started. Can't imagine how that feels for senior veteran players. Anyways, when I first downloaded and played Sky, I had the feeling that it few more parts "art" than "game". The beginning of the game gave you some textual exposition to get you going, and then you're dropped into the Isle of Dawn. From there on, it's up to the player to further engage with the world, which feels like a design choice reminiscent of Journey's beginning, where you're plopped into the world without much explanation.
With the latest intro, the part where your skykid is soaring through the Sky but is suddenly extinguished is actually kinda cool. It conveys the feeling of the previous text intro a bit more smoothly than just reading it can, however, I am not really a fun of the fact the skykid then is dropped into Aviary Village instead of the Isle of Dawn. I feel like the game is a little more hand-holdy in regards to using the Aviary quests to entice the player to engage with the world rather than their own intrigue. This approach is probably better for new players who are unfamiliar with games where you explore without a clear motive, but from an emotional standpoint I quite miss the old intro.
I've also complained about this before, but lately it feels like Sky's event scheduling is becoming closer to typical MMORPGs or even gacha games, even though Sky doesn't have gambling mechanic that is integral to gameplay. Everything happens quite quickly with not much down time between events, and I can't help but feel some cosmetics are getting a bit... out there (my main examples are the icy-shard cape from this year's Tournament of Triumph and items from the Season of the Blue Bird).
just saw the wreckage of my synagogue in person. most of the windows are cracked, debris everywhere. water damage from burst pipes visible even from the outside. a melted security camera. there was a little window cling decoration still up on a broken window that said "Happy Hanukkah". a New York Post photographer was there and said it was one of the worst things she's seen in a very long time, and she has apparently photographed both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. this is just devastating.
I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD
Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ❤️
Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.
Love that this is well beyond 7000 people now and still going
@leavescrown Exactly! It’s a beautiful gift. Martin and Bosco out there travelling around the Tumblr community, continually making new friends.
@sseanettles
#hello again martin and bosco!! sending you boys round for another go :)
Reading your tag made me laugh out loud. It’s like two old friends unexpectedly stopped by your porch for a quick visit. XD
I’ll always reblog Martin and Bosco when they splash across my dash, because of Reasons.
What’s loved, lives.
There is something truly beautiful in seeing a comment like that from someone so very loved and recently lost.
Yes, Peter, you’re absolutely right. What’s loved, lives. You three boys all come back around again to see me again soon, okay?

GONCHAROV (1973) dir. Martin Scorsese
“It funny because for many years people thought Goncharov was the main antagonist of the film, after all, he’s the one everyone’s out to get, right? But it seems people are starting to understand that in actual fact, it is time that is the main adversary in this story. There’s never enough of it and that torments a lot of characters, especially Goncharov, because he’s fighting so desperately to find his place in a world that is so keen on keeping him ostracized.”

Once, Babylon seemed an invincible threat. Babylon is gone now; only archaeologists remember it.
We're still here.
Once, Rome seemed an invincible threat. Rome is gone now, only tourists remember it.
We're still here.
Once, the Crusaders seemed an invincible threat. The Crusaders are gone now, only historical dramas remember them.
We're still here.
Once, scapegoating for plague seemed an invincible threat. Those who scapegoated us are gone, long forgotten, the plague slain by antibiotics.
We're still here.
Once, the Inquisition seemed an invincible threat. The Inquisition is gone now, only comedians remember them.
We're still here.
Once, the rise of exclusionary nationalism seemed an invincible threat. Those nations have risen and fallen, the political movements that forged them remembered only by historians.
We're still here.
Once, the rise of Eugenics rendering us inferior vermin seemed an invincible threat. Eugenics has fallen, only historians and the scorned remember it.
We're still here.
Once, the Tsars both White and Red seemed invincible. The Tsars of both colors are gone now, and only a pale and thinly stretched shadow remembers them.
We're still here.
Once, the third Reich of Germany seemed an invincible threat. The Third Reich is gone now, and only desperate fools remember them.
We're still here.
Now, old new dangers have risen, those same desperate fools and former friends seeking scapegoats, who together seem invincible and inescapable.
But they, as with all things, will pass, in time.
And we will still be here.
One of my favorite quotes about Jews:
"If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one percent of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of, but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also away out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvellous fight in the world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?"
Mark Twain
This was too good to leave in the tags.

Since the start of the war i see posts on tiktok about how many cultures makes the Israeli culture, and every time i see pro Palestine say its not true. A black Israeli Jewish explained how her family ran away to israel and live here decently. People call her a liar. That she is paid to say that. A video about a black person and a muslin and a russian guy sitting next to each other on the train and pro Palestine dont believe this.
Israel is not a white European country. Most of us not even white. Dont make the beliefs that we are another reason to hate us.
To add to this, it shouldn't matter even if a white passing Jew has ancestors from Europe and lives in Israel. People don't automatically deserve to be killed because their ancestors were exiled and fled to Europe.
It's crazy that we were killed for not being white enough, and now we are killed because people think we are white. How things change in less than 100 years.
