not to dive back into this as always but TRULY the way jennifer honey was written in matilda to me is one of the most beautiful mother figures ever created. a woman abused her whole life choosing love and kindness despite how cruel the world has been to her, and choosing to pour that love into matilda who experienced the same is such a simple yet poetic story. a woman who chooses to adopt her and care for her because she understands, and more importantly knows, what the feeling of yearning for someone to love you as a child would feel like
