Following up with another garment from the wardrobe of Duke Moritz of Sachsen-Lauenburg: his green velvet doublet, made around the year 1600. While the expensive golden braid still remains, the original buttons were stolen, most likely by one of his servants. The buttons you see on the pictures are later additions. Still, this doublet is in fantastic condition for being over 400 years old! Doublet and breeches are connected by huge hooks and eyes made of metal, sewn to the doublet waist and the waistband of the breeches. This way, both garments stay in place securely while worn.
