I’m really enamored with the dynamic of two characters who work perfectly in tandem, like pacific rim drift compatible level, but they don’t like each other. It’s not even as strong an emotion as hate it’s just a very neutral-negative dislike, but they still act in perfect concert and their individual abilities are fully complementary

The throne room conversation is truly an A+ miscommunication scene because both characters are trying so so so hard to communicate through painful vulnerability and are failing due to both their own internal shit and a really insane set of external circumstances. Like, of course Quentin is unable to say anything more obviously romantic than "we work"! That is the most personally revealing thing he could possibly bring himself to say! Of course Eliot can't find that enough to risk anything on! Just such good stuff, absolutely my favorite kind of communication issue
