watching Hannibal is so fucking funny bc everyone sees will and is like “nice to meet you, I hear you’re fucking insane” and Will’s just like “yeah :/”
Julie Andrews burns the President of Warner Brothers during her Best Actress acceptance speech for Mary Poppins at the 1965 Golden Globes Perhaps one of the biggest scandals of Golden Age Hollywood was the decision by Jack Warner, president of Warner Brothers, to cast Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in the movie adaptation of My Fair Lady instead of Julie Andrews. Julie originated the role of Eliza on Broadway and in London - which has been heralded as one of the most difficult Broadway characters of all time - for three straight years, stunning audiences around the world. To provide some modern perspective, My Fair Lady was the Hamilton of its time, selling millions of copies of the Broadway recording in a matter of months, every single Broadway and London show sold-out for its entire record-breaking run. To everyone at the time, Julie was Eliza Doolittle, so to see her passed up for the movie adaptaion sent shockwaves through Hollywood. However, because Jack passed on Julie for the role, Walt Disney was able to cast her in Mary Poppins, for which she won both a Golden Globe and an Oscar. Julie stated of the Golden Globes night: “I suddenly realized that if Jack Warner had asked me to do My Fair Lady, which I missed out on, I would never have been able to do Mary Poppins.” Her dig - deft, quick, and spoken in her classically sweet nature - took enormous courage, delivering it to the most powerful man in Hollywood in front of all his peers. A member of the audience stated: “Everybody screamed. It was like a thunderous scream, everyone was laughing [including Jack Warner, pictured above]. That was her little sweet revenge.”

villains are hard to design. making them ugly is dangerous, depending on what traits you choose to frame as monstrous or undesirable, you could very well end up saying something fatphobic, racist, anti-semitic, etc
but if you make a hot villain then people will get thirsty and demand redemptions and refuse to acknowledge their evil actions, no matter how despicable
…………..you think?
…………..don’t look up Sauron on AO3
Nothing fails to crack me up like this post - the vain hope that somewhere out there is some awful nasty thing that there is not also a person whose kink that is, the idea that covering something up won’t make people obsessed with finding out what it looks like underneath, the surface level understanding of Sauron and complete lack of knowledge of the Silmarillion and it’s fandom, the fact that Sauron was canonically hot as fuck, the amount of Sauron erotica I have seen, God this post never gets old
The Poster Of The Comment: You don’t see people shipping themselves with Sauron!
The Very Large And Dedicated Community Of Sauronfuckers In The Tolkien Fandom, collectively:
Point. For those who have not read Sillmarilion, Sauron used to look something like this
Hey I know that we’re dealing with something huge right now but trump is trying to allow adoption agencies to refuse services to lgbtq+ families.... not only is this descrimination but there are TOO many children in the system for them to allow this. Those kids need homes.... I’m disgusted
Also this was posted on JUNE 6th, 2020 for context. Alright guys!! I couldn’t find a petition for this cause so I created one myself! If you want to sign it you can go HERE! If you have already reblogged this try and reblog it with the petition link! I appreciate you guys.
What if it bites me and it dies?
that means you’re poisonous. jesus christ, nate, learn to read.
What if it bites itself and I die?
It’s voodoo.
What if it bites me and someone else dies?
That’s correlation, not causation.
what if we bite each other and neither of us die
that’s kinky
oh my god
this is still my favorite text post collaboration ever
“Though critical reevaluation and appreciation for Jennifer’s Body has been gaining momentum in the near 10 years since theatrical release, the film is still often referred to as a “guilty pleasure.” There’s nothing wrong with liking Jennifer’s Body; it’s a legitimately great horror comedy with pitch-black humor, clever themes, a loving deconstruction of horror tropes, and brilliant subtext. It’s long past time we embrace it.” - Bloody Disgusting
“Had it been released a decade later, possibly through a streaming service, Cody told Variety that it would have “definitely” found its audience and the themes of queer representation and sexual assault would have been clear.” - Variety
“The idea of a woman’s body being used for men’s gain (even if it’s a prize as lame as indie rock fame), and her coping with this violation by using her sexuality to entrap and feed on those who once objectified her, feels like something to be celebrated, not mocked. Had this film been made a decade later, it’s possible Fox could have been heralded as the feminist revenge hero of our time. In fact, the reason Jennifer becomes a demon in the first place, rather than just dying from the violent stab wounds inflicted on her by emo Seth Cohen and his band while sacrificing her to the devil, is because they wrongly believed her to be a virgin. In complete opposition to tired horror tropes, a woman is, in a way, saved by her sexual experience, rising anew to wreak revenge on those who’ve wronged her.” - Refinery29
“The internet is suddenly full of critics reclaiming the movie and naming it a forgotten feminist classic. Jennifer’s Body is good now. More precisely, Jennifer’s Body was always good, and everyone is just now starting to get on its level.” - Vox
“Now, I think what’s happening is that people are seeing that the movie really did have a distinctly female perspective and that we need those movies, like we find those movies even after the fact, even after they’re dismissed because we need proof that we exist. And that was one of those movies for me. I was like, ‘If I was in high school I would love this movie. I would see this movie 10 times.’ I wanted to make a movie for young women that they can feel themselves being represented in even in a crazy outlandish story. And so I’m glad to know that the movie is getting rediscovered because there’s something pleasantly bonkers about it for me.” - Karyn Kusama, SyfyWire
10 Years of Jennifer’s Body Writer: Diablo Cody, Director: Karyn Kusama Theatrically released September 18, 2009

The fact that Snape is one of the youngest if not THE youngest professor is fucking hilarious.
Like how does he get away with half the shit he does like almost everyone there has taught him since he was 11 and they just see this 21 year old just walk back in like "Sup fuckers I'm a professor now by force better so you better start treating me like one."
7th years in the school are like probably "Didn't this fucker graduate 3 years ago?"
Imagine being a fourth year who has done /said something to your classmate Snape and then in your 7th year he's your TEACHER
THAT'S LOCKHART THAT'S LITERALLY LOCKHART LIKE
1. He Went to School with Snape
2. Got taught by Snape
3. Became part of the Staff like Snape
And the Fact that he's acting like he knew shit about potions is hilarious cause you just got Snape in the corner like
"Listen here you little shit . I taught you. I've seen your test scores. I graded those shits and you coming in here talking about being able to come up with an antidote?...Sit down."
The more people reblog this the more shock I am that they didnt know Snape started teaching at like 21 and he's like 30 first book
People in the tags for the past week having been confused and going bananas so like we gonna forget about the movies. Because the movies got it all wrong
Snape is 31
Hagrid is 63
Professor Mcgonagall is 56
Lupin and Sirius and Peter (3rd movie/book) 33
Dumbledore is 112
Do what you will with this info fam
You forgot Burbage. In the books, she's in her twenties.
Bringing this back around, when Snape started teaching in Aug/September 1981, he was 21
In Aug/September 1981, Lockhart was 17 :')
lockhart, 17, never fucking learned how to read: actually professor ;-)
snape, professorially, as if he hasn’t just had his last growth spurt: on god, i’ll smack the shit out you. put—your hand—down.
@cokeworthcauldrons , your tags are fantastic

Fun Random Facts About the LOTR Soundtrack
Most composers spend just 10-12ish weeks working on a film’s music. John Williams spent around 14 weeks on each Star Wars movie, 40ish weeks total for the whole OT……but composing the LOTR trilogy’s soundtrack took four years
The vocals you hear in the soundtrack are usually in one of Tolkien’s languages (esp. Elvish). The English translations of the lyrics are all poems, or quotes from the book, or occasionally even quotes from other parts of the films that are relevant to the scene
When there were no finished scenes for him to score, Howard Shore would develop musical themes inspired by the scripts or passages from the book. That’s how he got all Middle-Earth locations have their own unique sound: he was able to compose drafts of “what Gondor would sound like” and “what Lorien would sound like” long before any scenes in those places were filmed
Shore has said his favorite parts to score were always the little heartfelt moments between Frodo and Sam
Shore wrote over 100 unique leitmotifs/musical themes to represent specific people, places, and things in Middle Earth (over 160 if you count The Hobbit)
The ones we all talk about are the Fellowship theme, the main Shire Theme, and the themes for places like Gondor, Mordor, Rohan, and Rivendell…but a lot of the more subtle ones get overlooked and underappreciated
Like Aragorn’s theme. It’s a lot less “obvious” than the others because, like Aragorn himself, it adapts to take on the color of whatever place Aragorn is in: it’s played on dramatic broody stringed instruments in Bree, on horns in battle scenes, softly on the flute with Arwen in Rivendell….
Eowyn has not just one but three different leitmotifs to represent her
Gollum and Smeagol both have their own leitmotifs! Whose theme music is playing in the scene can often tell you whether the Gollum or Smeagol side is “winning” at the moment
The melody for Gollum’s Song in the end credits of the The Two Towers is the Smeagol and Gollum themes smushed together (it’s Symbolic)
And then there’s the really obscure ones. Like there’s a melody that plays at Boromir’s death that shows up again in ROTK in scenes that foreshadow a major death or loss
Wikipedia actually has a list of these leitmotifs, click this link and scroll down to check it out if you’re bored
Shore wanted the theme music to grow alongside the characters– so that as the characters changed, their theme music would change with them.
You can hear that most clearly in the Shire theme. Like the hobbits, it goes through A Lot
Like compare the childish lil penny whistle theme you hear in Concerning Hobbits/the beginning of FOTR with (throws a dart at random Beautiful Tragic Hobbit Character Development scene because there WAY TOO MANY to choose from) the scene when Pippin finds Merry on the battlefield, where you hear a kind of shattered and broken but more mature version of that same theme in the background
I could write you a book on how much I love the way the Shire theme grows across the course of these films
Unlike the hero’s themes, which constantly change and grow, the villain’s themes (The One Ring theme, the Isengard theme, etc) remain basically the same from the very beginning of FOTR to the end of ROTK. Shore said this was an intentional choice: to emphasize that evil is static, while good is capable of change
Shore has said that between all the music that made into the movies and the music that didn’t, he composed enough for “a month of continuous listening”……..where can I sign up
