i don't have the best luck when it comes to strangers

people will be like “be sure to always tell someone if you’re struggling” and then you tell your loved ones you’re struggling and they’re like “hmmmm. buck up. thug it out.”

“I’m struggling” “when are you not? hmm…..anyway”

and I don’t really think it’s their fault either, all mental health campaigns are like “if you’re struggling, tell someone” and not “here is what to do when someone you love is struggling”. boomers and gen xers aren’t from generations where it was common to talk about mental health and discuss treatment and support and living with a family member who is mentally ill
