because i hadn't set up the BIOS properly or something, like, idk, assigning... memory... in a good way... for graphics... fuck idk. and the computer wasn't running at high performance, but balanced, so basically the game was too much for it. because i think the ... fuck, idk, but something was assigned 0GB, which i then changed to 16GB, and changed something else to like, high performance. anyway, then it did crash once but that's because i was fighting with a wall... i.e. for it to not crash, i have to click/do things a bit slowerrrrrrrr... very counterintuitive skjfgnk

i bet the sims will run better too now... remember how the stairs were disappearing when i went up a level...... yeah i thought it was weird because i'd never gotten that issue on my old computer

ANYWAY. i took screenshots before leaving because i didn't want to open firefox and risk another unexpected crash

so i kicked out two household members because i didn't want to play them anyway. i tried to do a balcony on the middle floor but ghrgrhghr it didn't want to create one. also i've noticed that ... it's not entirelyyy the game's fault when the walls fuck up. sometimes a wall doesn't snap to another wall because i have to hold alt to get close enough to... whatever, and then, yeah... listen i'm a bit tired lmao. anyway, the top floor is fucked, the ceiling is not actually a ceiling because i'd later decided that the main bedroom should be at the front because there was more room... and whateverrr i'm too tired to explain. BASICALLY. house.

i'm gonna put some gym stuff here, i think. and i still want to extend the bathroom. and mmmm idk, just stufffff. the walls are fucked

i know how to do an... in-built shelf now, but i haven't done it yet because i feel like the game yells at you if you do a thing and then decide you don't want it... so yeah i'll do it but later, once everything's settled

honestly though, now that i've realised that i've not been doing walls very accurately... if i remade this house it might just be a bit less glitchy. however, yolo

over here, i'm going to do an in-built bookshelf thing set into the wall!! which means i have to thicken the wall. i saw how to do it today (same principle as the shower recessed shelf) so yeah it'll be fine. it's the game that might fight me

so the top part is like the ... rooftop area set into the roof (which btw i think i'm not going to do because i saw a warning when i went to the roof section, something about ~if you're not following a grid, life will be hard for you. so this build might just not have a roof, ok?!?! skjfngk

i might possibly halve the rooftop area/give the left side of it to the main bedroom as a sitting area

(there are not many apartments (that i know of???) which have a concierge, so i wondered for a while if this idea should be a hotel rather than an apartment)

and idk maybe simon thinks the random hot stranger is all kinds of confusingly adorably pathetic because idk MAYBE concierge people can see the security cams and he can see what this guy is doing (or the security guy bitched to him)... but he doesn't say anything because it's not like anthony talks to him either (just stares at him and thinks he's being discreet about it) and also, simon stutters. he's just going to hand anthony his large parcels and his uber eats orders and someday (never) work up the courage to say something

i think i might make the courtyard a bit smaller... i think i had it as 2.4m wide or so? maybe we could go... 2.1m... perhaps... althoughhhh... idk, i don't like that there's a big gap in the middle of the house with nothing in it. hm. maybe i should put the bookshelves against the outside of the stairs... actually you know what i looooove. the built-in shelves under the stairs. one could probably squeeze in a tiny little powder room toilet thing under the stairs too, i saw how tiny one of the sinks was. but i also feel like the game would REBEL

eta or maybe i should just move the sofa and have it face the stairs and plonk the tv there... or do i not have enough room

if i do manage to get back in, i want to do another house, i think i saw a sloping downward block, which i'm hoping has a nice view. because i want to do like, two square/rectangular blocks, slightly shifted from each other (or do i want a connecting bridge-type piece?) and the set back piece (or however you call it) is the bedroom and bathroom, and the other piece is the living/dining/kitchen. yeah it's one of those houses for one person which is usually an airbnb in a remote location lol. and this is 'split level' as in the bedroom/bathroom piece is higher, and then maybe three steps down is the living/dining/kitchen piece. sooomething like that.

eta forgot to mention, i would want these blocks to somehow appear to 'hover' (i.e. stick out far enough from the downward slope)... or at least appear to be the pod design, but on a slightly larger scale

for yearsss i've had this um idea/mental image of a downward sloping block, so sloped/sloped enough such that you can't really see the house from the road. and it would be neat to put grass on the roof so it camouflages in even more. and the house is brutalist with a bit of timber thrown in to soften it, ofc.

on that note, i did see this interesting airbnb (studio, sigh) in NZ with this same sort of concept, made out of stone iirc, with grass on the roof, and the glass walls were like a mirror such that you could see the surrounding landscape reflected in it, and so the house blended in with the surroundings, which were all grass/sea/bay/no other houses. i liked it, i just wished it was a 1 bedroom so that i could pretend it would be somewhere you could stay in for a substantial amount of time/possibly live in if you could handle the remoteness
