.r.emember the basics - they're where everything starts. . This pose (Asana) for you non-yogurts is called "warrior 2" or Virabhadrasana II. It is the bane of my yoga practice. It also looks incredibly easy right?!; lunge forwards, straight back leg, arms out.... . Not. . When I first started doing yoga I couldn't understand why this Asana (pose) was so tough. I still pour sweat just standing there.... . I now know that the more I practice the more challenging the postures get... ESPECIALLY the "simple" ones. . So Here's what is actually happening here inside a newer yogi's mind; . *Insert self talk here* Ok @ben.new.man.transforms (or ... Ben) here's what we gotta do in 3 or so breaths; align front heel with arch of back foot, press into outside edge of back foot whilst staticly dragging the front heel towards the back of the mat. Contact with all 10 splayed toes to the floor, arch engaged in both feet. Bend front leg to 90°, back leg straight and engaged. The inner thights scissor towards one-another. Tailbone tucks underneath, and weight stays centered between both feet. Chest tall, throat open, tone in arms as you reach them away but shoulders relaxed and away from the ears, elbows gently bent. Chest wide, and open, neck upright, esophagus relaxed. Non-focused gaze across the tips of the fingers, jaw relaxed, tongue relaxed from roof of mouth. Perineum gently lifted, breath soft and unforced yet with a slight constriction in the throat to stimulate the Vagus nerve. . Oh, and that's only gonna last 30s before the transition towards the next pose. . So yeah.
