Debut: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Yowza! Get a load of this thing! What’s even going on here? I love it!
I asked that, but I know what’s going on with this thing. It’s “a part-machine, part-organic, centuries-old thing”. Wow! That’s one of the coolest possible combinations of things to be! Being a machine would already be enough for me. I love a silly robot! But part ORGANIC? This is a cyborg! I have no idea what parts of this are flesh, but the fact that some parts are is just fascinating. And finally, it’s centuries old. The beautiful ribbon on the package, wrapping it all up with a nice bit of “robots have existed far longer than anyone would have thought”, which is splendid.
Moving away from the design for a bit (as much as it pains me to do), the most interesting GAMEPLAY related thing about Wizzerds is that the standard Wizzerd does not appear in the main game, only in the optional Pit of 100 Trials! Instead, Dark Wizzerd is the only Wizzerd in the main story, and in fact is even weaker than a regular Wizzerd. Usually that’s the other way around... but that’s Wizzerds for you! Always keeping you on your toes!
The third and final Wizzerd is the Elite Wizzerd, and I think this one has the best color scheme of all! The others are nice, yes, but the gray base with brightly-colored features here are what I think make it really stand out for me. Good job, Elite Wizzerd!
Can you believe we got this far without even mentioning the actual design? Wizzerd is just so fascinating that it can fill up a post without that! But I’m not done with this post, so sorry to those who hate long posts, because I guess this will be one.
First, let’s look at the eyes. Yes, that is an Eye Void, but quite an unorthodox one! Separate yet still connected, this is no Eye Void I have ever seen. Then there’s the fact that its “head” is two pieces, and detaches to open! Always a splendid feature! And finally, its hands. It would be neat enough that they’re floaty. It would be neat enough that they only have three fingers, and don’t seem to have much of a palm. It would be neat enough that there are four of them. But the Wizzerds have ALL of that! And they use them to tickle! Watch out!
Can you believe we got this far without even mentioning the fact that these are wizards? Wizzerd is just so fascinating that it can fill up a post without that! But I’m not done with this post, so sorry to those who hate long posts, because I guess this will be one.
I promise this is the last point, but it’s quite a point! These ancient cyborg things are MAGICAL! It’s always magical when a machine is magical. There aren’t enough magic robots if you ask me!
