Honestly ? I love the way my family reacts to "weird identities".
I told my grandma about the alterhuman community (without mentionning I’m part of it) and also said I like to make gears. She was like "That’s weird and stupid, uh !" Then next week she gave me a dog brush to make my tails.
I came out to my mom as a kitsune theriomythic and she said something like "Uh boy that’s weird. Are you sure it’s not some kind of mental illness" Then she bought me a really cool fox necklace, paw gloves and told me that she finds my masks and quadrobics are really cool.
And I told my parents about the way maybe I’m neogirl or smth like this, enby female, and they were like "That’s too complicated, can’t you just be a girl ?" But they’re so supportive and say "You can identify as anything you want, you’re still my kid and I love you"
And that’s great.
They don’t always approve.
They don’t always understand.
But they’re loving and supporting.
And that, THAT is wonderful.
