Texts with my mom, trying to figure out why her response upset me. Ive been physically disabled for like 2 years now and its always really bugged me how she talks like it can be fixed or like I dont need things cause in the future I might get better.

I guess this is an 'is this ableism' type ask, dont know if it is or if im just losing it over nothing lol

This is ableism. I've noticed a lot of ableist parents are convinced physical disabilities are fixable... Hell even ones with good intentions are sometimes.

I'm sorry she said that to you. I think a better response on her end would've been something that actually related to your point about them advertising to seniors.

I looked up "rollators for young adults" myself yet all of their images still feature seniors. I get that's a large majority of rollator users but... jeez.

It’s okay to need a mobility device if you’re young.

ITS OKAY to need a wheelchair, or to use the riding carts in stores

My initial cane is an offset one

I mainly got this new one because my offset-cane can only be folded once. I couldn’t find any offset canes in Germany which are foldable twice

I’m an ambulatory cane user and never know when my knees will be bad enough I need it, so I specifically got this new cane to easily keep it on/ in my everyday backpack

I struggled a good 40-50 minutes taking the original tip off the new cane and replacing it with the type of cane-tip I am used to from my beloved offset.

I worry my wrists might complain tomorrow because of the pulling/ gripping/ force needed to get the original tip off the new cane. I even had to heat it up using my hairdryer before it budged.

I might put reflective stickers into this cane as well, stars probably (the leopard stickers are the same type reflectors you can put in your bike’s spokes)

And I decided I will get some grip-tape (you know, tennis rackets) in a funky color :3
