I don't necessarily need a walking cane but life would be a lot of easier if i had one. Plus it would be cool as fuck. My relatives can bitch about it all they want, I'm getting my cane as soon as i save a bit of money for it.
i just want to take a second to celebrate how far i've come
Basically half a year ago I was still struggeling to use my cane in everyday life. I had to concetrate on it to walk correctly and whenever i tried to pay for something at the supermarket my cane would clatter down. Anything that needed a hand to do took ages.
Today Ive not only texted while walking I also just paid without even thinking about my cane and walked away after.
Walking with a cane isnt a task anymore, its second nature
Im saying this in case someone who just started using a cane and feels frustrated or overwhelmed with it reads this.
Its gonna be okay. It will be normal one day, you wont even think about it. I could do it, you can too. And your struggles are valid.
i used to be self conscious about my cane especially when it clicked now i just think about i movies where the bad bitch power walks in heels clicking and try to embody that energy
Using a walking stick in public means I get a lot of stares. But I choose to think they are just thinking ‘Woah it’s non binary Dr. House’ instead of ‘Yo they look too young to be disabled.’

my cane!! I don't need it so often now (tho have a bad knee today), but it really helped me through bad time when almost whole right side of my body was in pain, so I decided it deserves some recognition
