Had plenty gluten free hot water crust pastry dough left from the other day, so I figured I might as well use it proper.
Consulting Becky Excell's recipes, I went for her gluten free bread pork pies!
For a first try, they sure turned out pretty nice, if I say so myself. Added some extra spices for flavour, such as a bit of curry and paprika, which I'm glad I did. Made them super tasty.
A tad behind on a few projects, like these labels for presents.
But finally got some done and ready at last.
Old cross stitch project finally framed so I can move onto other projects I haven't finished either.
So many patterns left in this book, that I wanna do.
Doors have been opened to Mangfoldighedhus Aalborg, and us from @aseksuelledk sits waiting eagerly for anyone to come by! Be careful out there in the heat, okay!

A New Spy on LAES - NOW HEAR ME OU-
Dumb theory I've had since day one, but I need it off my chest just in case it turns out I'm right.
So, "Razzle" aka Dotty aka Resurrected Dazzle - either truly has anything President Earth related info deleted from her data banks, or she's gaslighting Lunar hard just because he will only compromise her mission.
OR
Someone else in the plex is a new spy. A thought I had already before LAES Dazzle was killed - Prez and her Monty talking a lot about her being compromised and asking too many questions. Knowing Prez hates to leave things up to chance, she would already have a new backup on the ready. Someone reliable and perfectly trustworthy, just like with Dazzle able to have anyone lower their guard.
Who showed up after Prez openly sharing these concerns about Dazzle? Out of nowhere, immediately attached to a key person, that Prez especially wants watched closedly, other than Earth.
Am just saying… I love and cherish Waffles, I'm so happy Lunar has found a confidant in a sweet animal, for emotional support.
But that dog appeared out of nowhere, immediately attached to Lunar. When not around Lunar or watching others closely, Lunar has said Waffles tend to just… wander off. Just like Dazzle did when reporting her spying to Prez.
I wouldn't find it too fantastical, that Prez would have the technology to create a perfect immitation of a real dog. One with less sentience and personality flaws, than her first spy. Just a silent observer, simply uploading all its findings to a dedicated server - keeping everyone under watch, as the least suspicious spy ever in history.
Finally opened one of the cook books I got for my birthday, that's been kind of neglected as I've been focused on studying into gluten free lifestyle since.
Saw these cute hot pockets I wanted to try, but couldn't find a ready made puff pastry dough that's gluten free. So I had to look through my collections for a pastry dough recipe, going for a hot water crust pastry one. Probably not the right kind, comparing the results to the photos. But oh well, still turned out pretty filling and tasty.
I haven't done pastry dough from scratch before, and hardly know the difference. But this one was simple enough to make and went pretty well.
Pocket content is ham, leak and cream cheese. Very tasty. Will hafta try this recipe again with a different pastry dough recipe to try get it more right. But the results for this one is encouraging.
And, of course, gluten free!
I found the episode of Monty's bachelor party with Moon very interesting.
Moon, who is the character of the two, that we have followed the most closely. Watching him go through arcs after arcs. Growing and changing, struggling the whole way with the weight of his sins of the past. Promising time and time again to do better, to be better.
And his idea of celebrating with Monty was to regress into "the good old days".
Having it all arranged, ensuring it comes off as a good thing, a favour for a friend.
Wanting Monty to join him in beating the shit out of a group of humans for being rude.
Wanting to let loose by acting like the unhinged enablers they used to be for each other. This was Moon's idea of a good time.
And then we have Monty.
A war criminal, a monster of a being, using their intelligence and lack of morale to enrich themself and get whatever they want. The abuse, theft, murder and so much more not only for profit, but personal enjoyment.
Monty literally beat Foxy to death and rebooted him, forcing him to be their unwilling henchman.
Monty's own growth and changes happening more to the side or off screen, compared to Moon. There has been no true redemption - at best retconning a few crimes here and there.
Yet Monty is the one proven to have changed and grown the most out of the two.
When Moon wanted to use their night out as an excuse re-enact how they used be, Monty's response was awkward. Hesitant. Uncomfortable.
Moon still remembers his old self with some fondness. Probably missing how much more simple life was back then. When not having to think about consequences of their own actions. Not having to worry about the hurt he caused.
As much as he clearly fears becoming the monster again, that he once was, he also yearns for them "good old days".
But, yet, Monty doesn't.
That genuine discomfort they showed at Moon's offered gesture, speaks volumes to a degree I don't think enough people talk about.
Again, there has been no true redemption of Monty. Nothing to truly make up for the amount of crimes they committed through their life.
But proving to be the one of of the two, who had ACTUALLY changed. After watching Moon struggling so much for every attempts to better himself just a little each time. Here is Monty. Actually grown as a person. Not fighting to NOT commit crimes. Genuinely more at peace with how life is now.
And I genuinely think it's all due to Terra. Not saying she somehow made Monty better through any conscious effort. Oh no.
The irony is that it is purely due to how we have seen every single version of Montys out there, to be simps.
Terra wants to be the perfect good girl. Monty wants to ensure none of their actions will ever reflect badly on her.
It's that simple.
And it speaks volumes.
Moon, despite everything, still doesn't have the will to truly change. Because he can't see himself do it for anyone. Not the way Monty did.
Just some thoughts that been rummaging in my head since that bachelor episode. A simple episode, yet I feel it is a great example of the difference in character growth.
