And I may have come up with... headcanons....

Like that Shiro has a PhD but still teaches kindergartners because he loves kids so much

That PhD happens to be in child development or early education or something like that (djjdjdhf idk if either of those are real phds but my neighbor studied something like that)

So ofc he’s all “I worked this hard to study it, why wouldn’t I put it in use?” Whenever anyone asks why he’d rather teach kindergarteners than be a professor

Now the reason he lost his arm is that he was in the army to pay for graduate school so he could GET said PhD

And a lot of people ask why “after all that JUST to get to graduate school AND the years it took you to get the PhD, you teach five year olds??”

So he just ignores them, because he’s happier now than he ever has been

Now when Keith learns this story, rather than question Shiro’s decisions, he just falls more in love

Because holy shit this man went through so much to get that PhD but would rather teach??? Little kids??? That’s fucking amazing

Plus Shiro’s great with Luna which only makes Keith happier

Later on when they’re together insert Keith helping Shiro with the nightmares he still has from when he was in the army

And whenever Luna has a nightmare and rushes to their bedroom Shiro just holds her and helps her through it, because he understands perfectly well

They get married a few years later and she’s the flower girl

I honestly think that somehow, the paladins did not age
