i don't know that i'd necessarily call them good beginner poison type pokemon...intermediate, maybe? it's not because of their personality, though. i loved working with nidoran in a lab because they're usually such pleasant little guys as long as you house them properly. female nidoran do need to be kept with at least one other buddy or else they get nervous, and male nidoran should ideally be housed either alone or with several females and no other males- they can get aggressive otherwise. the problem with these guys is actually the intensity of their poison. because even an extremely tiny amount can kill a human, you have to really be confident in your handling and safety precautions. ideally you should have some experience with less-deadly poison types first.
