Procession done on Thursday of the Holy Week in Verges (Comarques Gironines, Catalonia). Its most famous moment is the dansa de la mort (“death dance”).
In the Middle Ages, this dance was done all around Europe, but people eventually stopped doing it throughout the centuries. In other towns of this area of Catalonia, the dance survived until the 1930s, but was also abandoned. Verges is the only town where this tradition has survived since the 14th century until nowadays.
