OKAYYYYYYY, so i loved it. words cannot even express how much i loved it. THE PLOT TWIST?? like i totally thought i knew the direction this book was going, up until the end i would have never guessed it was different. i loved both orion and valentino (as a november baby i resonated with the joke about when he was conceived, it reminds me of when i first did the math)
i honestly cannot decide which book is betterā¦ they are both amazing, i will probably read the third one too so lmk how that one is, no spoilers ofc but a general review of it. once i picked this book up i could not put it down, i was less focused on the whole dying part and more focused on the actual story this time, as during TBDATE i spent a lot of the book wondering if they were ACTUALLY going to die. there was definitely many times i had to put this book down and just take a breather when something would happen, but in the end it was truly amazing.
adam silvera can WRITE though this book was crazy and i loved it it was so beautiful, there was one passage i really loved but i think iāll make a separate post about it because thatās what it deserves. it did make me miss rufus and mateo a lot, the next time i find myself in a reading slump iāll probably read TBDATE to reset my mind.

I bought "the survivor wants to die at the end" before I even finished TFTDATE so I could start right away but it's been like 3 days and I haven't recovered I'm scared of getting attached to anymore characters from this universe.

book ramble below (little messy to call it a review lmao)
hi iām alive!!! long story short my mood has been rly shit, so i took a hiatus off art for a while and also went into a reading slump, but i finally managed to finish tftdate today!
i love but also hate the ending oml, this book is so beautiful but the way he (no spoilers) dies is so brutal, i had to step outside and touch some grass to process that š AND THE VIDEO IN THE USB DRIVE GAVE ME SO MANY MIXED EMOTIONS. BRO IM SHITTING TEARS. THEY LOVED EACHOTHER SM. iām so glad he thought ahead to make the video though, itās so bittersweet. they didnāt even get to look through their photos together though
itās so thought provoking just like the first book and it made me think so hard about how things couldāve been different, like if valentino never moved to new york or if his landlord was a different
but all we, the reader, know for sure is that valentino wouldāve stayed miserable if he never met orion. and orion finally got a boyfriend. they both lived their dreams in one day, i think thatās the closest to a happy ending we can get.
to be honest i find adam silveras writing style a little choppy and fast paced, but it didnāt stop me from learning a lot about valentino and orion, and their interactions are so cute
i even had some hope at the end that things would go right but nope ā¹ļø
i felt a whole lot of different emotions after the ending, but one things for sure, i cried a lot!!! ššš i donāt know whatās with adam silvera and making gay couples sad bro, this book is so homophobic of him smh. the only way i can describe the ending is awfully bittersweet. and the way the side stories tie together is so genius but so cruel at the same time, so kudos to adam silvera for that
anyway good news is that it sparked an art idea for me, so i decided to draw these sad gays to cope
to me theyāre just paid actors and the whole book is fake and theyāre happily married alr nobody can convince me otherwise
