I think that what Melkor actually wanted was just not to be interrupted by others and go his own way but yes there are bunch of others on his path so in order to get straighter passage he had to make friends and allies. Since I think he really would be resillient to most of emotional pains (yes many peoplw with thinker tendencies are such way) he would just cast his bad memories away in order to get what he wants. It would have been easier when he was younger since such unresolved mental health issues just stacks up as the time moves on but yes I am talking about his younger days. I think he would likely be an introvert (because he would less likely to show his feelings, think about how he grew up) so his face won’t show much of his feelings. So much of others won’t know what he is thinking. It is good for people who should not show there identity much (like spies or such people in those situations) and yes, he is in those circumstances so it would work nicely. If others are not likely to know what he is thinking or planning he would keep his plans safely so he can strike easily to get what he wants and without getting interrupted. I also means by that, he can be safer. If Manwe notices what he is going to do, it means it will never be nice for him. 

How you think Melkor or Manwe is not the matter in what I am talking about, I don’t think Manwe is a kind one but I don’t hate him because I think the whole story of SILM is about the political conflict between all those characters and that novel is written be Noldor so yes it will never be nice for Melkor and his people. Also, if there is no specific explanation for why Melkor is evil (I think he is better than most of Korean workplace bosses or politicians) and what he did in those early days. So, that can mean the Ainur just hate him. Ainur are people too after all. They can act on there whims and also it means they can act just by emotions not with logic. Also, in society which values emotions and convention much more than logic and evolution would never likely to be friendly to those people who questions everything (yes that also IS my story) because they want those people to shut the hell up, no matter they are no nuisance at all. They hate those people just by their existance. Just because they don’t follow others rules. It was what I, myself when through the whole 2n years of my life. So, if someone goes through that path like some millenia they won’t likely to have no brains left or something. Imagine that someone throws a stone when you are just sitting on your chair doing your work, you ask them why and what you get as an answer is just this : I hate you because you are so unconventional so die. You try to ignore them but others are keep doing that to you every time you are living. If one person’s life was just filled with those bunch of shits, they are likely to have no power at all. But sometimes, they choose to fight against them no matter what it takes. Even if they are alone and the whole world is hostile to them, they just don’t want to die that way. So he stood up and fought. It also means that Melkor may feel fear and be paranoid as fuck but is very reasonable to grow up like that. That can lead to this : he would be quiet and inscrutable not to get himself in more trouble but when he catches a chance, he will just catch it in time. His head, swelling with all those fucked-upness but brainy enough will lead him to be an opportunist. I think he is not a war-like one but more of an mad-scientist stereo type so I draw him as that skinny asian with babyface, that may explain why he always loses in duel and I think he is better in dodging others attack and strike when he can. So he wields Grond, hammers are to strike hard when you can and finish with a blow. If he was more of an warrior, he would not lose to Fingolfin the godslayer at all. Tulkas literally came to beat him down so lets just talk about Elf V.S. Vala. Back to the point : yes he is an opportunist so he keeps himself not showing his intentions easily and strikes when all is good to get what he needs. If the whole world is against you, and you want to get what you want, even if it is just a small thing like peace be being safe, you really need to play your part as clever as you can be. I am not talking about ‘what is right’ but the de facto of the life.

Yes this whole things are kinda like an issue of me or those who went through such thing but I consider Melkor was one of those people and yes, I don’t think he is evil or unreasonably cruel for cruelty’s sake. Those people are more likely to get the fuck out of there situations and solve the problem as soon as they can and have some rest so they are not likely to have such left-over energies to do so. Just leave them alone for a while, they will show you some respect and keep a good distance for you and them. For keeping there own safety to run away just in time when you cross their line again.Yes, they never expect you to apologize whatever you ruined. So they just run away from you. You may say that they are keep crashing down your society and what they do is bad. But what you lost is just your temporary comfort, those people are like 1 person per 1000 but you are like 1000. 1V.S. 1000! If that 1 calls there act a necessary sacrice who mock them by calling that was unnecessary and they are unreasonably cruel. Which also means you never, ever grow up, just not admitting they are alone and hurt and you hurt them. You are calling their resistance ‘evil’ but what that ‘evil’ literally means ‘unconventional and I hate that because it is uncomfortable to change’ but well those people DID changed and evloved the world by being ‘EVIL’ LOL.

About the ‘Discord’, yes, that whole thing is the discord. He IS the discord, and Ainur are the being of songs so their narrative is their song. The whole things I wrote is about this : even if you call Melkor a discord, what he wanted was to be safe, not killing you like what you think. Those discordant ones can get easier way to be their safer self by those discordant others went through the similar paths before them. Being less killed by that hostile world because those ones before them died for there sake. Even if those ones who died never intended or meant to do so, those thing make the ones who are fighting now work easier. They fight with whole teeth and nails so the world gets tired by time. 1 against 1000 or more those take long time but if 1 gives a mark on history, the others will stand and start fighting. I think that was how Melkor gained allies. They are likely to have a very deep bond to each others because they are now 5 and the world is still 1000. In order not to be killed they need to hurdle up. I like to think it was Thuringwethil who met Melkor first as his ally and I HC her being a maia of Varda, Manwe, and Orome. A nightwatcher can explain why she is a bat. She is the being of night but not very close to Varda like Ilmare, her kin. So maybe she felt some similarities between the boi and herself and chose to follow him. If she was a person with many complaints it can work nicely to give you some reasonable explanation of why she would follow the one with nothing but just himself. He does have a potential to be a good king, yes, for he is likely to know peoples’ suffering since he went through all. But there should be more than that to make him a leader. Yes, he is clever but he still needs more abilities to prove himself : like a constancy to keep the system he made, to manage the whole things between himself and his people and also, the whole things between his people themselves. The ability to tune the conflict to keep those whole people from all those clans whose may not share the same ‘culture’. Most of them are likely to be an outcast from there clans. Outcasts needs power to get not bullied. So much of them followed him because of it. He himself, is, an outcast. Being not fitted in the society never means you are bad or you have no talents at all. If one is very very clever and full of talents but unconventional enough to make the society like that irksome you can be an outcast. (I think Feanor was more conventional then Melkor because of this and after all he grew up as a prince under his father’s wings. Not like Melkor. But he does have a tendency of being so. Otherwise, he would not have acted like that.) Outcast party now has a leader with so much power so Melkor will give his own to keep all of them safer. It will enhance their bonds too.

About Mairon, I think his name, the Admirable can mean he was more conventional than others in Melkor’s party. Most people admire those people works nicely and fits in the society. Also, he can seduce many people. It means he has a great sense to fit in all those society and gets his own place. Just being pretty will not make him do that. If Melkor met him as an ally, there would likely to be other reasons more than Mairon’s own personal issues. People like Mairon would not leave there society easily because it is safer not to move out. So If Gothmog and whole bunch of Balrogs were his friend, his society moved on from Aule’s to Melkor’s. He now has reanson to move. Melkor now have the admired one on his side LOL that may make many others change their alliance.

Many people who chose to be on Melkor’s side may have shifted their alliance again just like Osse, he is called the redeemed. So there would have been more. If not, Eonwe would not give Mairon a choice at the end of the first age. If all those people except Osse just followed Melkor and nobody got back to Almaren, Eonwe may have taken Mairon back to Valinor without second words and confine him with Melkor of keep him in Mandos forever. I think Osse is a whimsy one so he can change his heart or decisions whenever he wants. But he DOES love Uinen, so yes he dumps his friend with benefit and keeps his love life with her lol and that made Melkor more depend on Mairon on his own issues. He would likely to feel being loved so I think he would have insecure + avoidant-attachment sue to his earliest days but if someone declares that they love him, he may lean on their touch. I tend to think that Melkor felt betrayed by those maiar and Osse so he would not want to lose Mairon but doesn’t know how to love him without safe distance. Mairon would have been unsatified because of it and became possessive over time. Friends like Gothmog or the balrogs are not the part of this relationship so they can give advices but it is two of them who would do that thing work. Melkor and Mairon never wanted to be parted away from another anyway. After all, Melkor trusts Mairon that much. Otherwise, Mairon would not survive the first age after failing Melkor in the Luthien incident. It was like a doom in Angband, the lieutenant left his duty like a year is a hell and if Melkor was not capable of running the fortress efficiently they would have lost that time. So I think Melkor like a king Jeong-jo from Chosun dynasty and Mairon Hong-guk-yeong his aide.

Langon : I guess he would have been maia of feanturi and Nienna, Vaire. Servant of the dead ones who felt sadness all the time thoughout the endless flow of history. I HC him to be the last survivor of the party and chose to live in Endor forever, weaving the tale of Discord for his dead people. The name, the voice or the bell, can mean he is the advocate of the sadness of the revels and also, that can mean he is the horseman of the doom. Intellects tend to revel against convention, like Galileo Galilei or Carlo Rovelli. So I portray Melkor and Langon as a scholar-like type. They maybe overthinkers and likely to be paranoid and have too much fears and concerns but can think what others never foreseen. Those overthinkers often are outcast because many people don’t like them fearing every possible future which never came. Also if the one who stands for the discord’s sake, it will be harder to live in his clan. Nienna would pity everyone and advise all to get better access to there future but it won’t mean she will be on his side. Actually, those people who cares for ALL never, ever, helps those who really fucking needs to be taken care of because ‘EVERYONE’ has issues so they wait for their time dying and those who really fucking needed help immediately passes away like that and no one ever notice that because they are dead. Dead people can’t speak after all. If not, they make them shut the hell up not to be a bad person and say they too have issues. So Langon chose his path just not to be drawn in that fucking flow of shits and yes, I really would have chose so. People who survived that never asks why they should help when the another needs their help. They just help the other and then, asks why. They learn not questioning first. Questioning for the reason why should you help them when the another is dying means : I will not help you but I want to make an alibi of not helping you so if you can’t give reasonable speech even if you are drowning in your own blood, I will not help you and keep being a good person who helps all but I couldn’t save you because who failed to give me reasons (which means they can help at the time asking why, you can ask after all is done) Those revels survived those shits and saved themselves. So if they can, they will do anything due to the bond of the survivors. Also, being a King means the one should be able to give a hand to others to get on the right track. That’s why I think Melkor can’t be that evil like some of you portray. Also, if he managed to keep a system for that long, he couldn’t make it being totally evil. You can’t be a king ALONE and he had followers. So, like Langon, he would likely have saved someone’s heart. (*But actually I can’t hate Nienna and Vaire at all because they are females and people hate female characters without reasons so much also that’s what they are made to, they are just doing there jobs after all. Also Vaire, the weaver of the history, may interpret the female entity Ungoliant was actually the same level as Eru but Eru attacked her and taken her everything to make Varda and Vaire. Ungoliant and Varda are the Universe, the Blackhole and the Star. Vaire and Ungoliant are the weavers. So, if Eru was the will of ‘LIFE’ and he crossed the line to get what he could not, and had taken the power of the creation from her, it may make sense and as I wrote before, that was how males treated females throughout the history. This interpretation is inspired by Enûma Eliš , and The Creation of Patriarchy, by Gerda Lerner. Males taken females right to kill and conquer so all they all left is to nurture and give others comfort, that can lead to NIenna and Vana. But since Varda and Vaire is what left of Ungoliant and Yavanna is the ‘life’ herself so those three may kill. Also, Vana and Nessa may kill too since they are related to Orome directly but they are kept softer because the right to kill has gone to Tulkas and Orome because they are males.)

Often when learning to fly, they fly above their parents, so that if they’ve get tired or fall, one of the parents can turn over in midair and catch them.

They are often seen strapped to their parents’ backs in battle. This helps to normalize it for them and make violence less distressing.

Umaiar put their children to sleep by dancing. When they are very young, like newborns basically, this can just mean hopping from foot to foot while bouncing the child, but as they get older, kicks and spins get included. Also helps to normalize constant movement, because Umaiar spend a lot of their time traveling.

Fighting is taught from a young age. Most children start to learn by imitating their parents.

Most children’s first words are somewhere along the lines of ‘death’, ‘boom’, or, in funnier cases, a swear word.
