Well, maybe ask yourself: Does Odo from Deep Space Nine have wings?

Aka The Anniversary of the Fall of Gondolin, aka midsummer. A couple of years ago I celebrated by writing a little story about a Balrog: Lungorthin all but flew across the cliffside. Gothmog was dead. Apparently, he had tripped over some dead Elf and fallen into lethal water. Gothmog was dead, stupidly. Melkor would need a new Balrog-Captain.

Well, what better choice than the lordly Balrog who had discovered the escaping Elves, here in the mountains? The mighty Balrog who would slay them all? The agile Balrog who had never, ever tripped?

With a mighty leap, Lungorthin landed among the Elven host. His spinning whip lit up tiny terrified faces.

Melkor would soon have a new Balrog-Captain; a new lieutenant; perhaps even a new confidant.
