Luinësë and Luinith from Quenya and Sindarin respectively.

These are my own names for July.

The translation is "blueness" as Tolkien never gave July a canonical name that fits the patterns of the other months (Lótessë meaning flowerness, etc)

In the appendix for The Lord of the Rings, July is named as Cermië in Quenya, Cerveth in Sindarin. Unfinished Tales translates these to mean simply the seventh month.

The blue in the name is for the open sky in my part of the world and I thought it would fit for both summer and winter! If anyone has other words they associate with July let me know!

Derived from: Q. urco (urcu-) “bogey, orc” + Q. alcar “glory, splendour, radiance, brilliance”

Inspired by: Ancient Greek ‘kleos’, which means ‘glory, renown’

Derived from: Q. #cir- “to cut, [ᴱQ.] cleave; *to separate from” + Q. onóna “twin-born; one of a pair of twins” + Q. -ndë “feminine agent”

Inspired by: Latin ‘gemini’, which means ‘twins’, and ‘taliare’, which means ‘to cut’

Derived from: Q. ovéa “(con)similar, alike” 

Inspired by: German loanword into English ‘ersatz’, meaning ‘inauthentic or inadequate substitute or imitation’ 

Notes: Something derived directly from ᴺQ. !ovëanta- “to imitate, make like” would likely have been closer in meaning to ‘ersatz’, but I went with its element Q. ovéa “(con)similar, alike” instead because it was shorter and sounded more similar to Etho.

Derived from: Q. árë “sunlight, warmth (especially of the sun); *noontide” + Q. -on “masculine suffix”

Inspired by: Irish ‘grian’, meaning ‘sun’
