While the Unity thing is raging, I just remembered a question I had about software tools in general.
How do software companies have the right to dictate that their free "personal edition" software can't be used to make something for profit?
In the case of Unity and other game dev stuff it can make sense if it's ultimately their software doing the work and the user is just feeding it images and instructions, but i'm talking about say, photoshop.
An image is made with photoshop, not by photoshop or of photoshop. So what right does adobe have to say you can't make art in photoshop and then sell it?
Do they actually have that right, or has that sort of been asserted and not been strongly challenged? Could someone let you borrow a paintbrush to make a picture, and then dictate how you're allowed to use that image? I wouldn't think so, so why should software tools be different if they're not actually part of the final product?

Test driving the trial version of clip studio. Sucks that some features like SAVE are locked until you buy it, but seems to be a very good package. Still too well trained with photoshop hot keys which tend to trip me up from time to time though.
Total Sonic n00b here and I smashed into cars at the beginning of Sonic Adventure 2: Trial on PS3--it's the free demo version of the PS3 version of Sonic Adventure 2--and was impressed by how Sonic's slightest touch sent them pinballing wildly down the street, setting off a chain carvalanche!
