If you are on a Windows 11 computer, pause everything you are doing for one minute and:
Open computer settings
Click on Accessibility on the left-hand menu
Scroll down the Accessibility menu and click on the Keyboard Option
Under the "related settings" tab, click "Typing" which should have a description of "spellcheck, autocorrect, text suggestions."
Turn off the AI "correct misspelled words"
and most importantly: turn off Typing Insights.
[ID: a screenshot of the above mentioned Windows 11 settings, showing that Typing Insights is now turned off, with the following description from Microsoft: "Windows is using artificial intelligence to help you type To help you save time and type efficiently, Windows can learn to suggest words, autocorrect spelling mistakes, and interpret swiped typing. Take a look at the insights below to see up-to-the-minute stats on how Windows has learned to improve typing for you. These stats are stored only on this device and Microsoft does not collect the typing insights data." End ID]
"But Mx. November, it says right there Microsoft doesn't collect the typing insights data!"
I mean, yeah, it says that..... for *now.*
It also only specifies that Microsoft themselves don't collect it, and they wouldn't have made this something that I was automatically, secretly opted in for without my knowledge if they didn't have something to be gained by me not knowing it exists!
I only found this because a cat walked on the keyboard and turned on Filter Keys and while trying to figure out why my keyboard was just making chirping noises instead of typing, I happened to click on "typing insights" by accident.
Generative AI, and especially AI that is used to "personalize" and track your activity across the web and on your computer are never going to be in your best interest, it is always going to serve these companies in whatever way will line their pockets the most, and all it takes is updating their terms of service once, and then all of that data they promised they weren't collecting suddenly all belongs to them.
Literal definition of spyware:
Also From Microsoft’s own FAQ: "Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers. 🤡
IMPORTANT NEWS FOR WINDOWS 10 USERS
So, official support for Windows 10 ends on October 14th 2025. But Microsoft apparently lost a court case and now they have to offer an extra year of security updates--which was an option previously only available to their Business customers--to everyone. But you have to manually enroll. If you want to know how to do it, go to the link below
As the end of official support for Windows 10 approaches on October 14, 2025, many users are seeking ways to maintain their system's securit
You've got to do it before October 14th if you want the extra year. Otherwise support will end for you and you'll probably have to "upgrade" to Windows 11.
EDIT:
Americans and everyone else outside the European Economic Area must still pay $30 per year to keep Windows 10
Users in the European Economic Area, however, now have a fourth option. While these users must still sync their computer logins with a Microsoft account, barring users from local Windows 10 accounts in the ESU period, they must now simply log in to their Microsoft account on the device every 60 days. Failing to log in to the Windows 10 account after 60 days will terminate end-of-life update support for the device. The European Economic Area includes member states of the European Union, as well as Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein. Outside of this region, any users interested in remaining on Windows 10 and still receiving security updates are still required to put up the $30 or submit their settings data to the Microsoft cloud.
I've recently been made aware that if you are thinking of switching to Linux or want to switch but don't know how there's a great website made just to help people migrating from Windows to Linux.
The website has a long list of supporters, so if you really know nothing and / or are afraid of trying it and messing something up you will be able to get professional help from this website.
Extended support for Windows 10 ends in 2026. Don’t buy a new PC — revive yours with Linux. It's fast, secure, and help is available to get
There's even a list of places where you can go physically to get help. All over the world, not just in the USA by the way.
Say goodbye to Microsoft treating you like you don't own your PC. Say goodbye to intrusive features you didn't ask for. Say goodbye to ads on the OS you paid for.
Save your PCs from joining the massive amount of e-waste caused by Microsoft's unnecessary requirements.

robotgirl safewording after its girlfriend pulls out a flash drive with a windows 11 installer
Recall uses AI features "to take images of your active screen every few seconds."
I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.
So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.
Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.
This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.
Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.
And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.
Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.
fuck your os fuck your os fuck your os
