HEY GLUE, do you watch the English dub of HoD or do you just stick to the Korean/OG dub?
There's something that's been bothering me abt the English dub of s2-e4.
That one scene where everyone begs Zero to play with them and he only actually joins when Semo (politely, I think? It sounded polite) pleads with him? The English dub changed it to Semo challenging Zero by saying something along the lines of “Are you scared to lose?”
Like??? The English dub is really out to make sure all of the small, soft interactions are lost...
What do you think?
only the korean dub, because the english makes me cringe so hard it feels like my skeleton's trying to crawl out of my skin! plus, korean's my first language, so it's easier for me to appreciate the show fully when i watch the og dub.
"are you scared to lose" is terrible. in the korean dub, semo is actually saying "please, Zero" firmly. his tone's pretty authoritative, but it's also kinda pleading in a sweet way. not unlike a parent to their child.
the english dub is just emotionally constipated at this point
also it's so sweet how zero puts the sliced apples right in front of semo eeeeeeeeee

I think S01/Villain!Limo’s obsession was specifically with having control over who gets to be safe and live, and who doesn't.
---
He didn't care when people got into dangerous situations because of him, because that was fully in his control, under his authority, accounted for within his plan.
He did care about Semo’s incident, because that wasn't in his control. The crash was his fault, but he didn't plan it, and that's why he freaked tf out and actually felt guilty.
---
Why does he need control over people's safety so much?
Because back then, Zero’s actions to save him wasn't aligned with his wants. His authority should've meant he had control over Zero’s movements, but he didn't, and Zero ended up disobeying him to keep him safe rather than obeying him to keep his wife safe.
This is gonna be really short because I don’t have a lot of thoughts about Zero.
OG:
He was a significant part of the family, and of the story in general. He didn’t talk much, but he was around.
HoD:
They seemed to just completely forget that he existed. He was gone the majority of the time past S2-E4 without a single mention of him.
Z
OG:
Very loyal to Semo, nice, cheerful, a valued member of the family.
HoD:
Hansu.
Limo
OG:
He loves his son. It’s very obvious. Overall, he’s just generally very affectionate and caring towards his son.
At one point in the movie (that’s not officially posted by Retrobot, but I couldn’t find any official uploads, I’m so sorry guys), he tried to swim across a bay(?) to get to Semo.
At around the end of the time he was held captive by Angela in s14, all he could think of while trying to escape with the spoon (at least in the English dub) was getting home to Semo.
HoD:
If I’m not mistaken (I saw someone online talk about this scene and translate the Korean version, but idk if it’s accurate), in S1-E3, Limo said to Semo something about “It was hard for you too when I was gone” (while trying to argue that bringing Hansu to their house was a good idea).
And here, if you need a reminder on how different OG-s14 Semo and S1-P1 Hansu’s situations are
The main similarities include:
Both having a broken leg
Both their dads being absent
The main differences include:
Hansu’s dad was gone because he was being treated in the hospital. Meanwhile, s14 Limo was KIDNAPPED AND FRAMED and Semo immediately had to fight to find him and prove his innocence when he got his cast off.
Hansu was mostly alone because his friends were on a trip he couldn’t go on due to his injury, and his mom was always busy. Semo was alone because almost nobody believed him (other than Z, but he doesn’t count) and it’s only around the end that Dingyo finally joins him.
And I know Hansu suffered too, but his situation cannot be compared to Semo’s. That’s genuinely just not fair to Semo at all.
So, summary: HoD!Limo, at least in this scene (which, I’m not even sure the translation is accurate), seems very ungrateful towards his son’s efforts and doesn’t care that he’s oversimplifying/undermining Semo’s traumatic experience in s14.
And generally, Limo just... isn’t as caring and affectionate with Semo.
And also in S1-E3, at the start, Limo gets weirdly aggressive at Semo when Semo’s prosthetic was going haywire (Idk if I’m just sensitive, but I feel like Limo was really harsh when he told Semo to focus and control the hand. I feel like OG!Limo would be kinder and tell Semo to focus gently and assure him that it’s not his fault.)
In general, I feel like HoD Limo chose others over Semo one too many times.
Semo
Can I be honest? I absolutely love the route they took with Semo’s personality in HoD. He was kind of a pushover and really passive unless he’s playing responsible big bro for Hansu, and I like that. I like softie Semo.
What I don’t like was the way they completely took away his bond with his dad.
Semo’s whole character, at least in the OG, can be roughly summed up in two concepts:
His love for his dad
His love for helping people, even at the cost of his own safety
So to take away his admiration towards Limo, is to erase what is essentially half of his character.
Not only that, but he also lost a lot of the genuine bonds he had with most of his friends. They treated Semo horribly IMO, especially in S1-P1. Nobody gave him the kindness and patience they expected him to give Hansu.

So. Um. That’s it. Most of this is purely subjective, based on my own opinion. I just wanted to share.
I'm pretty sure HoD writers just forgot Zero existed bcs he is not in any of the s3 episode highlights. Where did he go??? Did the Tobot Team leave him in Daedo when they left and went to Maggie??? Was there ever an explanation??? WHAT HAPPENED TO ZERO????
