a/n: Alright here it is everyone! I’m going to be writing this with the Riordanverse in mind (Or I’m really trying to at least) and this will be the point of view that while the gods do not themselves have direct offspring with mortals, they do inhabit people as hosts to interact with mortals and some of their godly essence is transferred to the mortal, and what if the original blood of pharaohs operated more like they are the representation of their godly parent.
Can be interpreted as a direct demigod offspring of the Egyptian god, bloodline of or using the power of the gods with the Path of the Gods that the individual is hosting.
It's been a while since I’ve researched Egyptian mythology in great details and depth, so don’t take this as an actual presentation of Ancient Egypt and its culture and mythology. I know there are just a handful of Egyptian demigods mythological and I’m taking some liberty with it.
Also forewarning, it has been years since I’ve read the Kane Chronicles and I haven’t been able to re-read it because I realized my collection of the books are either in deep storage somewhere or were lost in the house fire years ago. If I’m mis-remembering details or something, I’m sorry and consider them as very headcanons or written with creative liberty.
There won’t be any story paragraphs like I usually do at the end because I don’t know how to write it also my brain is fried from doing this.
Sorry if the tags seem all over the place. When I was tagging them, apparently other than #thekanechronicles || #kanechronicles, there weren’t any other premade tags in Tumblr so I literally had to make my own 😩 If all fails, use those two tags PLUS #egyptian gods || #egyptian gods and their magicians || #path of the gods

☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS: 𓉈 ANUBIS: GOD OF BURIAL AND EMBALMING, OF CEMETERIES AND MUMMIFICATION, OF FUNERALS AND DEATH feat. WALT STONE 𓁢
A/N: Alright, we’ve reached probably I’m guessing a lot of favourites’ egyptian god, especially for the Underworld kids out there (I see you going over the Hades, Thanatos, and Persephone demigod H/Cs 👀) and one of the favourite gods depicted in the Kane Chronicles.
This was fun to do because I had to write between Anubis and Walt so there’s a lot going on, but writing this reminded me that the love triangle between Anubis, Walt, and Sadie, that Rick wrote as canon, can be interpreted as polyamory and the fact that Walt and Anubis are very devoted to Sadie is based and terrifying.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
This… might be one of the oddest connections to develop; especially when the Kane Chronicles are taking place because of the fact that Anubis is being hosted by Walt Stone, and they’re both of Walt but also Anubis at the same time? Honestly wondering how often you will hear and communicate with Anubis but also Walt? Not to mention by association, you’re going to be talking to a lot of people-
I’d imagine those who follow the Path of Anubis are those who are afflicted, surrounded, or have a deeper connection with death; as going down his path in general means specializing in Death Magic and Necromancy. Hopefully you don’t have the same crushing death curse like Walt, cause Anubis is kind of taken (literally as a host by Walt and taken in terms of relationship wise with Sadie Kane who is currently giving you looks and oh gods-)
Expect talking to Anubis to be moody and literally being like a moody teenager. He’s learning things as he does and if he has trouble teaching you, well, it's a bit odd considering he’s teaching someone out of their free will then someone who is a bit more dependent on his path.
His teachings about Death magic and Necromancy will be very intense and probably a bit more imbalanced as Anubis has never lived a mortal life through a host until Walt, so his perspective is a bit off at times.
Walt thankfully steps in and explains his own experience when going down the Path of Anubis, and his own knowledge. Walt’s mortal life balances out Anubis’ death so it feels less overwhelming when communicating with Anubis.
It's best if you get along with Sadie Kane, who is often around and curious seeing her boyfriend(s) teaching a magician in person then say in their head like she experienced with Isis. She’ll be often around due to her romantic relationship with Anubis and Walt, so it helps getting to know her.
You don’t have to like her or be buddy-buddy, but there is one thing you absolutely cannot do is hate Sadie and in turn mistreat/interfere with her. That is a sure way to get kicked and broken off from the Path of Anubis, if not getting obliterated by Anubis/Walt. (Not to mention Carter Kane coming in because Sadie is his little sister, regardless how capable she is…if she doesn’t deal with you first).
Though if you get along with Sadie, then you’re all good! Anubis/Walt would be pleased that Sadie has another friend and he can consult with you at times.
The threat is still there though.
I should mention, by pursuing the Path of Anubis and with the use of Sympathetic magic with Anubis, you may not be able to use Healing magic given that Anubis isn’t familiar with mortal lives and has little experience with dealing with the living, and Healing Magic deals with fighting off death by healing others and preventing diseases.
Also given how heavily reliant Anubis is with the realm of Death, learning Healing magic while being in constant contact with Anubis is pushing a boulder up a hill. It doesn’t help either that with Walt’s deadly curse still active, its even more hopeless.
Your next best option is becoming a Charm Maker (Sau) who makes protective amulets, rings, and charms of the like. By the way, this isn’t Anubis' forte and is completely Walt’s knowledge, which is an odd game of telephone where Walt tells Anubis to tell you how to make charms, but Anubis can’t help quip in some godly knowledge so what you’re making will probably different then the average charm maker.
Expect your Death Magic and Necromancy to be very powerful and supercharged as you’re communicating and using sympathetic magic with Anubis. The power of Death is strong with Anubis, add in Walt’s curse, so using Death Magic with the slightest touch of a finger is very effective.
Speaking of which, when you use sympathetic magic and channeling Anubis’ magic, you can feel the phantom effects of Walt’s curse in your own body. Anubis reassures you that you won’t actually suffer the effects of the curse and won’t have long-lasting damage to you, it does affect you mentally/spiritually because of the sensations.
Using Death Magic especially emphasizes these sensations and you have an out-of-body sensation of what Walt had been suffering through for all this time.
I’d imagine when you’re using Necromancy and channeling Anubis’ power, you might attract a lot of unrestful spirits or spirits who wish to be put to rest after they’ve done you a service as Anubis is the god of Funerals and Cemeteries. Some take more service depending on what happened, while some move on immediately afterwards.
Unlike with Osiris who is the god of the dead and living, who the living and the dead respect him, with Anubis, the ghosts and the dead you summon with Anubis, there’s a sense of responsibility.
On the other hand, you’re very proficient with summoning, shabti, or statuary magic as it sort of relates to Necromancy and as a medium of the in-between.
You’re probably also going to be doing funeral rites or helping pay respects to the dead, influenced by Anubis and also furthering your connection with Anubis’ role as the god of Funerals and Cemeteries. This can be helping put a couple of flowers to a gravestone or honouring a person’s life, and so forth.
The Path of Anubis is something you’re all learning on the go for all three of you so if you ever feel like something is off, a lot of times it's because Anubis is not used to having another mortal, Walt who is being a host for Anubis and is seeing himself in you, and you who is still learning to being a magician.
“I should mention we’re new at this, and we have no idea what we’re doing” said Walt-Anubis.
You stared at Walt with blinking eyes and you weren’t sure if you were supposed to be offended, worried, surprised, or just bamboozled. You had your own reasons for being drawn to Anubis and when you found out having blood of the pharaohs, and you could pursue the Path of Anubis later on, you were on board.
However, when you were looking into it, Carter and Sadie introduced to Walt Stone, the only magician to take the Path of Anubis…who is also coincidentally the host of Anubis, where they equally took turns being who was at front. You only discovered this as you got to know Walt and also Anubis, who were taking turns speaking. You could feel the slight connection to Anubis helping you along because you were getting better who was talking.
“How new are we talking about?” you asked.
“Really new” emphasized Anubis-Walt. “I’m…considered one of the youngest gods and nobody really looks for me when they pursue the Path of the Gods” said Anubis, as you realized it was him. “Walt is the first one and even then, the circumstances that led to this were…unique.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Uh, I have a deadly killing curse so Death has always surrounded me, which created a connection with Anubis and it sort of happened” admitted Walt. “I dunno how well the Path of Anubis will work for you because of it.”
“Ah…well, I want to take the Path of Anubis because of a similar situation? But I don’t have a deadly curse…I think at least?” you admitted.
Walt seemed unresponsive but you remembered that Walt and Anubis were probably talking to each other internally until you sense Walt and Anubis coming together. “Well, if you’re sure. I am Anubis, God of Burial and Embalming, of Cemeteries and Mummification, of Funerals and Death, and welcome to my Path.”
☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS:𓁧 NEPHTYS: GODDESS OF MOURNING AND LAMENTATION, OF SLEEP AND RIVERS, OF THE NIGHT, PROTECTOR OF THE DEAD 𓁧
A/N: Oh sweet Nephtys. I always liked Nephtys when I first discovered her when I was younger but when I was doing these h/cs and doing research, I realized how contradictory her mythology and information is, as well as how little and vague there is of her. In this case, the Riordanverse helped a lot by adding its own contextual, canon info that allowed me to get an idea what to write. She’s still super interesting but by gods, researching her felt like I was getting lost in a whirlpool.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
Oh sweet, kind and gentle Nephtys. She is the most welcomed connection due to her personality and even having her as a host, has less of a risk than most other guards because of it. However, not many seek her out deliberately out of their own accord because of her personality and what she could offer. Thus, when pursuing her path it is probably one of the easiest to pursue but you won’t find as many people pursuing it with you.
However, there is also another problem as Nephtys isn’t a very confrontational god, as it would be more accurate to say she is more of a pacifist so going down her path and communicating with her may be difficult if you’re pursuing her path for non-altruistic reasons.
Nephthys’s path is Water magic, Necromancy, and Death magic. However, her paths all contain contradictory elements which is probably a factor as Nephthys could be considered a goddess of contradictions.
Although Nephthys is a Water goddess and is a River goddess, she isn’t affected by the magical disruption in the flow of water, you may not be able to purse Water magic under her path as you are still under effect of it and you may have a greater difficulty learning water magic because Nepthys’ water is pulsing with flow. It's recommended to be already familiar with water magic before pursuing this path so you aren’t swept away.
This in turn makes it difficult to perform magic because Nephthys could be considered a river goddess, her energy feels like the flow of magic constantly flow, which makes it difficult to perform your own magic. Mastering Water magic becomes the first thing you do because otherwise, you may continue having difficulty.
Necromancy and Death Magic also have their own stipulations. While it acts the same way as you can expect, Nephthys’s view of Death Magic and Necromancy is different. This is mostly because of Nephthys’ godhood and association.
Yes, you can use Necromancy, but Nephthys as the protector of the dead, she would rather have you use it for non-violent or harmful purposes and they are stronger when used for more benevolent reasons; such as answering questions, defending people, and so forth.
You may use necromancy to go in your place if you must if it's truly dangerous to risk your living life, or use it as a sense of self-defense, but she would rather treat the dead as if they were still a living being.
Death Magic is the hardest one to learn under her because she knows under her power and path, her Death magic is the most powerful and the most destructive which she finds dangerous. This is due to the fact Nephthys is a goddess who symbolizes the death experience, whilst Isis represents the birth experience. It is the strongest when you use Death Magic to protect others, against a powerful force that threatens you but never out of your own direct will towards others.
Only when you do connect with Nephthys on a much deeper level and follow her path with dedication and honesty, do you unlock a hidden path under her. It’s not one that directly comes up but only when you learn about Nephthys directly as a being and her history, and how she was viewed by the Ancient Egyptians about her function in the culture, do you realize that this magic makes the most sense considering her nature: Healing Magic.
Nephthys opens up to you that while she is capable of healing magic, she does not have that many experiences with healing with the living compared to other gods, and since not many undergo her path, this magic is unusual to be considered Healing Magic: as she had regenerative priorities on the embalming table. It’s only when you work with Necromancy in a more altruistic way and practice Healing magic on the side, you unlock how to apply regenerative magic onto living individuals; with Nephthys guiding how she regenerated bodies on the embalming table and you applying it in reverse.
I don’t think Nepthys would be mad if you decided to learn outside of her path, learn under another path user, or even learn another path of the gods if you were able to; especially when it came down to Healing magic. Her only word of caution is that it's best to learn under Isis because they are sisters and they shared many duties together.
The easiest magic to learn would be the Sleep Spell with Nephthys, since she is the goddess of sleep. However, it may come too easily and it might actually make your target sleep like the dead. Quite literally almost given Nephthys is also an underworld deity which…can make it very easy to slip. So you have to train and hold back the power of your sleep spell if you use it because of the risk.
More often than not, Nephthys presence is constant, yet quiet. She reminds you of the quiet sound of water flowing down a river in the background of nature. Only when you focus on her sound and presence, can you hear her true presence and how complex yet wonderful she is that she has always been there, a presence that is ignored but when its gone, do you truly realize how big of a presence she is.
There may be times where she is truly a motherly-figure when you’re in danger or overwhelmed, she will wrap you in water that makes you feel like you’re floating yet also encased like a hug. It reminds you like you swam and floated under the pool of water, how the sound of everything sounded different as you both felt present yet light.
“I sense a kinship with you. I am not the most powerful or ambitious god out of my family, or even with the other gods. I cannot promise you that I will be the most useful in times of great strife however , whatever I can do for those I care about, I will do what is necessary for what is important which is something I can sense we both share. I am Nephthys, Goddess of Mourning and Lamenation, of Sleep and Rivers and Night, protector of the Dead.”
☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS: 𓅃 HORUS: GOD OF WAR, THE SKY, KINGSHIP, OF FALCONS AND HUNTING 𓅃
A/N: Y’know with how important and powerful Horus is technically, there isn’t actually a lot for him to write on based on attributes wise. Horus was really hard for me to write but that could be just that Horus was never a god that I vibed with even when reading the Kane Chronicles, despite how prominent he is in the books. Hopefully I did him some justice to the Horus lovers out there.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
Ah Horus, another popular choice in terms of gods. Definitely leans towards those who strive for leadership and have a more forward attitude. If you have a more bold, headstrong personality, then you’ll find yourself attracted to the Path of Horus….which is a good thing, considering when communicating to Horus who has been known to be arrogant, annoying (at times), self-centered, while also being brave and honorable.
He's straight to the point and firm in his decisions, so if you have an alternative idea, you need to present your case and stick with it.
The guy doesn’t understand sarcasm and at best, you can say light metaphors. This means be careful on what you say and what you decide because Horus will take it at face-value because as the god of war and King of Gods, he has to be firm in his decision as a leader lest he misleads his people. So if you’re going to commit, you have to commit.
Horus’ path of the gods isn’t much but they are certainly powerful and you can focus and pour all of your energy into learning and perfecting it. His path contains Combat Magic, Animal Charming; preferably falcons but any (predator) winged bird is also the next best thing. You can still learn other magics, of course.
I’d imagine you might have a great affinity for Water and Air elemental magic if you are pursuing the Path of Horus. As Horus is the God of the Sky, air and water elemental magic fits this case, more so with Air magic, and Water secondary. I’d imagine with enough training and sympathetic magic with Horus, you might be able to achieve minor Storm magic, however how successful your chances are unknown.
While you only have to learn Combat Magic with the Path of Horus, it is going to be both the most powerful and most difficult to master as Horus is the most powerful deity in terms of Combat, aside from Set. Channeling his magic into a Combat Avatar will be difficult because Horus is a powerful god and if you’re not sufficiently trained in Combat Magic or as a magician with experience in the field, it will take time to summon his whole avatar.
It is most common to summon Horus’ fist to be an enhanced arm or another hand in battle.
Your next best option for combat magic with Horus is to use it for Weapon summoning if you don’t have a Khopesh or any other metal blade on your person. You can be a little creative in weapon choice that comes most naturally to you. The Khopesh as is standard and iconic amongst Egyptians but as Horus is a war deity, he has sufficient knowledge of all kinds of blades and even if you go outside of Egyptian weapons, they all function the same.
If you do have weapons on hand and are familiar with them already, Horus will praise you for your choice of weapons and demand a demonstration of your skills. If it's a weapon outside of the Egyptian spear, like a Katana, he would be very interested (though he would always suggest a khopesh). He may not be too warm to the idea of weapons like bows and arrows but he won’t disagree on its usefulness.
Just as long as you don’t use a greek or roman weapon, you’re all good (cough if you know what I mean cough cough wink wink cough wheeze)
I feel like if you know some war tactics or knowledge (like the Art of War by Sun Tzu) or are keen to learn (more), Horus will be very favourable to you. He’ll guide you and give you insights of battles he witnessed or was a part of, teaching you both how to move individuals in a fight or how to command others. Though some of his advice may be a bit too hardcore at times but times and the stakes were different.
The good thing with Horus’ Animal Charming is you can take up on Falconry legitimately; as in you can walk around with a falcon in public without much problem so you’re always ready for whatever happens. Though you best get a falconry license to be extra sure, though I wonder if the House of Life can get you it. Surely they could.
Another option for Animal Charming under Horus is the pigeon. You’re not entirely sure why Horus says the Pigeon is a noble bird and when you go to ask Carter, you don’t get much of an explanation except for his face turning like a cat who looked at a banana wrong.
Though you showed Horus some of the fancier pigeons. Though its going to make it awkward when you need to use your falconry to manage the pigeon population-
Note: Please do not attempt to deliberately seek and tame a griffin on your own. It is discouraged as Griffins are generally dangerous and Carter Kane was able to tame a griffin because he used the Eye of Horus. He is the exception and is not the norm for users of the Path of Horus. Freak the Griffin is also an exception and griffin care is to be approached carefully.
Speaking of Carter, as the former host of Horus and Eye of Horus, he’s going to be your mentor as much as he can with his current duties. He’s a very good mentor and general person to look up to whenever you have a problem or question about anything, providing you a lot of context and content to go off with both historical information and personal experiences.
You two, along with Julian, end up figuring out how to make future pursuers of the Path of Horus easier and share your own experiences with each other.
Talking to Horus and Carter, you start to realize they are two sides of the same coin- so you’re constantly having both Horus and Carter talking to you, but one is more prideful and the other more lecturing at times.
“Excellent, another magician who desires to seek in my power and greatness! I am Horus, King of the Gods; God of War, the Sky, of Falcons, and Hunting! I will lead you to greatness and power with my guidance and you will achieve great greatness under my leadership! Now show me your bravery and honour!”
“He’s rather… loud” you noted.
Carter nodded. “Well he is better than what he seems. He has his moments for sure so give him some time.”
☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS:
𓁴BAST(ET): GODDESS OF CATS AND PROTECTION, AND THE (Second) EYE OF RA ☥
A/N: Not gonna lie, I unabashedly channeled my love for cats and my own ideas of being like a cat into this headcanon. I mean come on, its BAST. I really had to.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
No joke, I think the people pursuing this path are highly motivated cat people which is saying something like Egyptian magicians where the Egyptians really like cats. So having a connection and talking to the goddess of Cats? Bast herself? MEOW LETS GO.
Bast’s path is Combat Magic, Healing Magic, and Animal Charming of Cats. Self explanatory, plain and simple right? It pretty much is but for what makes it up for the lack of options is its strength and skill. Rather than having more skill sets under this path, you’re pretty much made to focus on these three aspects and you’re going to master it all.
With Bast’s Combat Magic, her version favours less for brutal strength and more for agility and speed; much like a cat would be. When using her combat magic, you become much like a cat, able to leap and turn in the air, allowing you greater flexibility with quick precision like acrobatics with knives. It is also useful for general maneuverability across complex structures, as you are able to more easily parkour your way around when needed.
Basically, now you are able to be like a cat! Without having to cough hairballs either!
Another form of Bast’s Combat Magic is producing deadly claws to tear into enemies, or using her mighty paws to bat away enemies when needed.
Healing Magic comes just as easily as an off-shoot of Sekhmet who is also goddess of healing. You are best as curing diseases and thus curses and evil spirits-bau as cats were credited for getting rid of vermin and keeping diseases away and comes much more easily with connecting with Bast.
For general healing like wounds and actual physical damages to the body, you still need to practice and use it regularly to get the hang of it.
If you tap into Bast good enough, your healing magic has a cat purring effect that brings a lot of comfort and healing to your patients.
While not mentioned much, due to Bast’s connection to Ra as the Eye of Ra, pursuing her path allows you greater affinity with Fire elemental magic, and perhaps Earth magic as she was a protector of crops and as a land mammal. Your weakest elemental affinity is water because its opposition to the moon and fire, and well…cats generally don’t like water.
Especially since Bast is a desert cat deity and due to the nature of flowing magic, both you and Bast may not be especially not as keen with flowing water.
Talking with Bast and with her experience with the Kane siblings, this isn’t her first radio but is extremely curious why you decided to follow her path. It doesn’t really matter what reason you give her as she’ll be happy to teach you what she knows.
Expect her to be like a ‘mama’ cat where she’ll teach you the ropes in both a gentle yet rough manner where she lets you try something first yourself as an experience, but is there to catch you or turn you away if it's out of your depth.
The younger you are, the more protective she’s going to be which is very on par as she’s the Goddess of Protection and protects the children of the pharaoh in Ancient Egypt.
Depending how you are, she may or may not teach you things just yet or depending how dangerous your environment is; always telling you that you can always run away to live another day; especially if there are others who can take over.
Considering Bast typically hosts in cats, like her current host for the longest time was Muffins, Sadie Kane’s cat, don’t be disappointed if you’re not achieving the best as you can when channel large cat energy for sympathetic magic to work,
Animal Charming is going to bring so much joy if you love cats (which if you’re pursuing this path, you are a cat lover) and it’s going to be a step up from going pspspsp to the cats. Just cats, cats everywhere. Become the crazy cat lady™ and have your colony of cats as your army.
I feel like while you could use Bast’s Animal Charming for Large and Lesser cats, like tigers, cougars, panthers, and etc, I suggest getting a hand on regular cat animal charming before attempting. You might have a greater chance in animal charming a lion since Bast is also technically Sekhmet but there are risks around.
Still it’s always best to research on all kind of cats just in case- oh who are we kidding? We’re cat lovers, we’ve definitely researched into other cats and know how similar they can be.
Just imagine carrying all kinds of cat treats and toys on you because you never know. And catnip/Silvervine for…certain reasons. You regularly give catnip and other fine cat treats to Bast as an offering.
I can imagine you and Sadie Kane bonding over cats and Bast, and its not long until you both start bringing in stray cats and kittens over. You can literally feel Bast purring and chirping at all the kittens who are mewing for attention.
NOTE: It is unsure if you can charm a sphinx because of the cat animal charming skill, but it might not work because the Sphinx does have a human face and personality so it may not work in general. Do not attempt without thorough research and consultation.
However, given that the Egyptian Sphinx was seen as a protector of pharaohs and Egypt, and as a magician with the blood of the Pharaohs, there is a good chance that you could get along with a Sphinx.
“Oh, look what we have here, I sense a little kitten. You must have a great affinity towards cats and felines, if I am able to connect with you! Although you seem unassuming, I can sense the fire of independence in you. I am Bast, goddess of Cats and Protection, the Second Eye of Ra; show me your claws and I will show you how to use them well.”

☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS:𓁟 THOTH: GOD OF WRITING, CALCULATION, SCRIBES, AND KNOWLEDGE, OF MAGIC AND SCIENCE, OF MOON/ASTRONOMY 𓅞
A/N: THOTH MY DUDE. I liked Rick Riordan’s portray of these god, even if he sort of had to make him less OP for the sake of the story. I get it but man, Thoth was really important. Kind of went overboard here so hopefully it still makes sense to you guys.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
This is going to be an odd connection to have considering that Thoth is regularly associated with the House of Life, and you can actually see him in person if you desire to. What’s going to be more awkward and maybe the most difficult is that Thoth was the one who convinced the House of Life to abandon the Path of the gods…which is what you’re doing.
Between Thoth’s nature of his serious yet absent-minded nature, and his role in abandoning the Path of the Gods, pursuing a connection with Thoth might not be what you’re looking for if you’re not doing this solely because you want to learn from him.
When you first try to pursue the Path of Thoth, you have to make all the way to Memphis, Tennessee where you will be interviewed and questioned by Thoth why you want to pursue the Path of the Gods- not just his path, but in general. He’s going to dissuade you from everything and if you’re doing it for power of any sort, you’re going to be denied in some form- from just disregarded or being godly tested.
If you honestly reveal why you want to pursue the Path of the Gods, and why you want to choose his path, because you want to learn and be educated, you may have a better chance of Thoth allowing you the chance of pursuing the path of the gods. If you want to continue under his path and communicate with him, expect to be tested and questioned academically, logically, and so forth; ranging from more interviews and questioning, essays, to actual practical tests.
I feel like if you have tons of info to dump on a certain subject, oh boy, he would be very keen and prepare to talk for hours.
I think those under his path, Thoth would be more favourable to those who strive for knowledge and purely for it; so those going under his path will generally or have to be a more neutral or fair stance. In terms of D&D Alignment chart; think of Neutral Good and Lawful Neutral.’
That said, by pursuing the Path of Thoth, you’re basically working for or alongside Thoth, then say being affiliated with the House of Life; a stipulation for being able to pursue his path. Think of being his intern basically.
Thoth’s Path of the Gods contains Divine Words, Elemental Magic, Animal Charming and Transformation (baboons & Ibises), Healing Magic. Thoth is the God of Knowledge and Magic, so I’d imagine following his path is most desirable for how much you can learn and connect with him and how much you can achieve.
However, I’d imagine because of his stance on the Path of the Gods, and how much power that could be used unjustifiably, there aren’t that many thus many going to the Path of Isis.
I’d imagine with Thoth, he’s going to encourage you to try everything under his path but you might not be able to master them all. He’ll know which one are your weaknesses but he would make your pursue it even if you fail because he rather want you to learn about it and at least know the basics of it, then master it at all.
For example with Elemental magic, even if there are some elements you can’t get the hang of, he still wants you to learn about the fundamentals and feeling of it, having as a basic skill set, and if it's your oppositional element, he’ll tell you that he wants you to know your weakness.
Basically, he’s going to make you learn and experience all kinds of magic and possibilities, because he’s a Wisdom god, and has a passion for education.
Divine Words and Healing Magic are a must by communicating with but Thoth, he’ll teach you in the most educational format. With Divine Words, he’ll break it down by Hieroglyphics, teaching you how they were composed to make up the word and thus what brings the spell to life and its truest sense.
For Healing magic, he’ll not only make you learn how to use magic to heal others, he’ll teach you and give biology and medicinology lessons; especially since how squishy and vulnerable human bodies are.
Afterall, Thoth is credited by the Ancient Egyptians for revealing hieroglyphics and medicine, so of course he’ll go all in.
Having Thoth in your brain is going to be constant. Not because he’ll constantly try to control you but whenever he catches your brain thinking of some question, whenever you experience a new moment, and what have you, he’ll be there like an eager teacher and giving you explanations.
Of course, sometimes due to his absent-mindedness, he might go off on long-winded tangents but if you like to listen to people talk about their special interests, then you’re all good. Thoth would also like to listen to you ramble and learn your own perspective of things, so it's sort of mutual.
The god loves Blue Clues, so I can only imagine he’ll love Bluey and other certain similar cartoon shows. The more educational and appealing they are the better.
Surprisingly, among the mass of learning and discovering, Thoth will take you out on clear nights to just watch the stars. He’ll have a telescope and star charts of course to make it a learning opportunity, but he’ll join you for star-gazing. He is god of the moon (well astronomy if you want to go Kane Chronicles lore), so he’ll teach you about the stars. You can enjoy the stars as he plays his guitar, while cooking up this new barbecue recipe he discovered.
Thoth will also make you take breaks and tell you to go out to enjoy your own personal time because I think he would say that life is an experience that cannot be taught, and how precious human lives are, he encourages you to live and experience your life since life is the best teacher of them all.
Honestly, I don’t think you even have to pursue the Path of the Gods to have a connection with Thoth. If approached right, this still could all happen regardless.
“Hm, this is much of a conundrum” said Thoth as he analyzed all the writings of reports, essays, and homework he assigned to test you. “I will be very clear: I never supported the use of the Path of the Gods and I still am. Although, this generation of magicians have proven they are much more responsible than their predecessors, evidence of past actions suggest otherwise and I stand by my findings.”
You felt disappointed at his words but it made sense. You were even warned by Carter that pursuing the Path of Thoth was nil because of Thoth’s stance on the Path of the Gods.
“However, its clear you're unsuited for any other avenues of your fellow magicians and you have proven yourself to be a searcher for knowledge. So while I will not change my stance on the Path of the Gods, I feel like it's best in our interests if I invite you to study with me and I will guide you with my knowledge directly. How do you feel about this compromise?”
You gasped as you agreed as Thoth beamed.
“Marvelous! I will have a room and study set up for you soon since you will be absolutely be spending much time here studying and pursuing knowledge, and there is much I like to teach you. I am Thoth, God of Writing, Calculation, Scribes and Knowledge, of Magic and Science, and I will be very keen on what kind of scholar you are.”
☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS: 𓊨𓏏𓆇𓁐 ISIS: GODDESS OF MAGIC, MOTHERHOOD, WOMEN, MARRIAGE, CHILDBIRTH, AND FAMILY feat. RUBY KANE ☥
a/n: Gotta do Isis after her husband, it just doesn’t feel right not to. You know despite Isis being a popular goddess (or at least as I’ve seen) there haven’t been much, actual? Stuff written with her in mind? Other than “she’s the goddess of magic” but even that isn’t detailed too much.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
Ah Isis; a somewhat more common bloodline when great women in times of need pray for Isis to inhabit them. It's also the most welcome connection for a magician since Isis is the goddess of Magic.
In general, when you go down the path of Isis and establish a connection with Isis, it's best if you’re a lover of magic and are open to all the possibilities. As the goddess of Magic, Isis has a plethora of knowledge which is best if you’re flexible and broad in your own pursuit of knowledge and power.
There’s no shortage of magicians going down the path of Isis, since it allows you to tap into the Divine Words, Elemental magic, and Healing magic. Establishing a connection with Isis requires a strong ambition for power and the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
However, talking to Isis for a long period of time requires patience and being able to appeal to Isis due to her ambitions; where you have to prove to Isis that you are willing to learn and for what reason. If you’re lucky, maybe Isis will find compassion in you and will stick around because of it.
Honestly when you are able to connect with Isis, you will feel like you’re going to be scrutinized and analyzed by the goddess. She will ask why you want to go down her path and from there, see if it's in her best interest to establish a connection with you. Once you do, she’ll be overlooking you unironically like an overbearing mother, who is strict and wants the best for you. If you are able to appeal to her as a ‘child’ to her, she’ll be softer and gentler with you but a mother all the same.
When you’re pursuing Healing Magic, Isis’s path of the Gods requires you to learn about poison. To cure yourself and your loved ones using antidotes, but more importantly, how to use poison to gain an upper hand in any situation necessary; just like Isis poisoned Ra to learn his Secret Name. Your healing is only good enough if you know your poisons.
When you begin to learn Divine Words, Isis’s approach feels very much like when you were a child and your mother was teaching you the alphabet and words. Isis will coach you how to pronounce the hieroglyphic spells into Divine words, Isis will insist you pronouncing it the way she does; given that Isis is probably the most authentic and original way of how it’s said, the closer you are able to say the hieroglyphic to how Isis says it, the more powerful the Divine word is.
You’ll be able to speak the Divine words, because Isis won’t stand for it under her own watch; but its effect and potency depends on how much Isis feels towards you, and your linguistic ability to grasp and pronounce the Hieroglyphic. Unless you host Isis, do not expect to be able to speak it to its truest form.
I feel like Elemental Magic is the easiest yet hardest thing to learn, especially from Isis because it's the most basic magic to learn, there are many varieties that you find yourself drawn to. However, as the goddess of Magic, Isis requires you to learn every single elemental magic as you can and the strongest power it can achieve.
She would even has you learning lightning magic but don’t be surprised if you don’t learn/fail at it because it's Chaos magic, or not being able to perform all of the elemental magic- since Isis does it out of curiosity and isn’t surprised because she is the goddess of Magic, so her being able to use any elemental magic without restriction is expected of her.
There’s a possibility you may be able to use Ice magic, but that is a very rare skill and probably requires you having a talent or strong affinity with Air and Water magic. Don’t be sad though if you can’t do it because again, not many can do it.
It is unsure if you are able to use cheese elemental magic as part of Isis’s path of Elemental magic but who knows? Between Ice and Cheese elemental magic, its going to be fun to find out.
“Mother knows best” energy from Isis and it could go either way at times, so be prepared for that.
I think when having a connection with Isis, you also are able to talk to Ruby Kane, whether because of her connection with the goddess or Ruby being the ‘wife’ of Osiris-Julius, and you can’t help thinking of Ruby whenever Isis’s much more softer persona comes out; so if you’re feeling a little bit of Isis’ tough mother love, Ruby Kane would appear to comfort you and give you her perspective on Isis as well as listening to any troubles you may have.
If you have the skills of being a Diviner, Isis would put forward Ruby and have her guide you in this gift.
That said, I feel like Ruby Kane would appear more often than not to help tutor you in being a magician, especially when it comes to more mortal aspects and you can feel her slip into her role as a teacher from her times as a professor in university.
If you use too much magic and try to draw too much power from Isis, you’re subjected to the side effects of being in her memories as a goddess and all the human hosts that she resided in. While some memories are good and enjoyable, there are many memories of death and struggles, of anguish and pain.
You also may get a first hand look into Ruby Kane’s memories and all the visions she saw as a diviner of what could’ve been and what had happened, as well as getting a close look at Apophis and being bitten by his minions.
Whether you like babies or not, you don’t really have a choice because when you connect with Isis, you will feel the maternal instincts and your duties will fall upon children and babies. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself raising baby kittens or taking care of a younger magician in your spare time; this is what happens when you follow the path of Isis; who is the goddess of childbirth and motherhood.
When you start pursuing this path, Sadie Kane makes her appearance very early on and is there to support you, as a fellow mentor, magician, or what have you. If you’re ever having problems with Isis or the path for it, she’s there for you. With her personality, you can always tell she means well and wants to help you.

“Many have sought my power and knowledge for their own means; whether to protect themselves or their family. You have great power and ambition much like I do, and you will do what is necessary to achieve what is necessary. I am Isis, the Goddess of Magic and Motherhood, Queen of the Gods, Wife of Osiris, now demonstrate to me how much you are willing and how far you’re willing to achieve what you want”
☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS: 𓌂𓐍𓏏𓁐 SEKHMET: GODDESS OF WAR, DESTRUCTION, VENGEANCE, OF PLAGUES AND FAMINE, OF HEALING, (FIRST) EYE OF RA, DESTROYER OF WICKED, THE GREAT HUNTRESS, LADY OF FLAME 𓁴
A/N: I sort of took some bits from writing Bast into here, especially since some stuff overlapped as Bast came from Sekhmet and all that, but Sekhmet is a lot more passionate and wild than Bast. I really tried to write more of a connection from Sekhmet but considering in the Riordanverse, she is still mostly a bloodthirsty and wild individual, there’s not a lot I can write of a good balance between her persona as well as someone you can communicate with normally.
EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
Sekhmet, what a bold connection to have! Definitely those with a burning hot passion with ambition who face things head on will definitely have a better connection with the lady of flame then above else. She is “Who is mighty or powerful” and pursuing her path will take a lot of willpower and trial.
Sekhmet is a lioness through and through; graceful and fury all in one. As long as you find your own strength and resilience, not just in battle but as a healer, to challenge your own fear and overcome challenges that may come your way; while also taking care of those under your care and protection with compassion. You are a fierce protector and avenger on whichever front.
When you begin to communicate with Sekhmet, you can feel her observing and judging you, if you have the conviction and drive to pursue her path. Once you do, you’ll be able to access her path which contains Fire Magic, Healing Magic, Combat Magic, and animal charming (lionesses).
Sekhmet’s Fire Magic is powerful and hot as the sun, and dry as the desert. If you are already leaning towards fire magic and already have your spark, then pursuing and tapping into Sekhmet’s fire magic is going to be less daunting.
Tapping into Sekhmet’s fiery passion is overwhelming and isn’t the faint of heart; however once you are able to do so, you are able to bring warmth to those under your care and burn down the evil who threaten to dare to encroach in your territory.
If you have a talent or affinity with Air Magic and/or Earth Magic, then you are able to unlock Storm/Chaos Magic as she is also the goddess of War and Destruction. Alongside this, you awaken something akin to Desert magic/Sand magic with Sekhmet’s Fire Magic as it was said that Sekhmet’s breath created the desert.
Though reception to unlocking this magic may be wary, as connotations with this magic reminds people of Set who is the god of the Desert or may be reminded of Sekhmet’s more ravage, bloodthirsty persona- which you might end up displaying when tapping into Sekhmet.
Healing Magic is one of Sekhmet’s most well-known aspects of her, alongside manipulating demons or evil spirits (bau) that are related to curses, diseases and plagues; particularly the Seven Arrows of Sekhmet who are powerful plague spirits born from Sekhmet.
You can’t learn one without the other and mastering one is also the other; and they are both very intense.
With Healing Magic with Sekhmet’s Path, you end up working with Jaz and you both work together healing others and continuing to harness your skills on each other so when the time comes, you are there to address any wounds, sickness, and whatever patients come your way. You both share tips and learn new skills to apply to healing magic, as well as tasting many kinds of potions to make sure they are up to par for consumption.
Jaz also teaches you about using figurines for certain patients, allowing you to heal them when the time comes or using it to monitor patients to make sure they are okay.
Once you and Jaz end up working together like a pride of lions, especially if you two are both ‘lionesses’, you can feel Sekhmet humming in content at the pride you’ve essentially created with each other.
With Sekhmet’s Combat Magic, you have the power prowess of a lion; powerful, graceful, yet absolutely terrifying. Sekhmet’s power is incredibly overpowering and you can feel her fury when you assume parts of her form. If you can use Sekhmet’s form to cover your arms and legs to allow you to run as fast as a lion and bat at your enemies with her mighty paws.
Hopefully you don’t assume parts of her head or her entire head because that’s when Sekhmet will take over and both you and her jaws will taste blood. The problem is that you won’t be able to tell friend from foe because of Sekhemt’s bloodlust so it's definitely a last resort.
Another way to use Combat magic is to take on aspects of Sekhemt’s lioness form into your own by channeling her eyes. You can use her eyes to see in the darkness, not allowing those who slither in the darkness and shadows to sneak upon you, or use a lioness’ sight to stay focused.
In terms of weaponry, if you decide to pursue or already pursue archery, you’ll have a better communication with Sekhmet for she is known as the Great Huntress- and with the connection of the Seven Arrows of Sekhmet, it is a great way to sympathize with her. Combine these with Sekhmet’s eyes, none may escape your sight.
It is also a great way to fend off enemies while also keeping your place stationary next to your patients and those under your protection. If they manage to get close, well, you have claws of your own.
Animal Charming with Lionesses may be few and between in most settings, unless you also want to extend your ability to domesticated cats or somehow ethically acquire lioness. However, in this case, unlike what I said with Bast, you may be able to communicate and charm with the Sphinx, given that the Egyptian Sphinx was seen as a protector of pharaohs and Egypt.
Paired with the Sphinx having the body of a Lion and Sekhmet who is the fierce guardian of Pharaohs, and as a magician with the blood of the pharaohs, you definitely have a higher chance of forming a bond or kinship with the Sphinx.
Communicating a connection with Sekhmet will always have a risk because her tendency for rage and wrath, with her constant bloodthirst is always present, especially the more you use her combat magic.
However, probably reaching out to Sekhmet or balancing her more violent tendencies with nurturing acts (such as healing) helps a lot. When you demonstrate your pride and ambition with your compassion, you can feel Sekhmet accepting you as part of her pride.

A lowly rumble fills your head.
“Either you have enough bravery or are a fool to step into a lion’s den, especially a Lioness’ den. I can smell how your blood boils with ambition and fire so I will grant you this mercy. If you want to continue my path, I will treat you like a cub and train you to be strong or be killed. Show me your claws and teeth so I can judge you if you are worthy to use my power to protect your pride or destroy those who dare challenge you. I am Sekhmet, The Eye of Ra and the Lady of Flame; Destroyer of the Wicked and Great Huntress, Goddess of War, Destruction, Vengeance, of Plagues and Faminine and Healing. Now, Hear me Roar!”
