I’m begging you to stop accusing every young person with Tourette’s of faking.
“But they don’t tic all the time!” That’s literally normal for tic disorders.
“But they have really complex tics!” Complex cases exist.
“But they’re cringe and have Tourette’s!” Teenagers are like that.
“But I’ve never see them actually tic!” It’s not always visible.
“But-” I’m gonna stop you there.
"I have anxiety tics" "I have anxiety seizures" You have Functional Neurological Disorder. Doctors avoid telling you the actual name because they don't feel like explaining it or just don't believe in it, but if you're getting tics just from anxiety, it literally can not be just anxiety. It's a full system of symptoms and causes. You need to have a tic disorder in order to have tics*. Doctors can still spread medical misinformation to their patients, especially with highly stigmatized conditions. Please stay safe and be careful with what you're presenting as fact even about your own conditions because your doctors are capable of being wrong and lying.
*I'm including transient tic disorder in this statement even though it is sort of a catch-all diagnosis. This includes tics caused by medication. In some cases, muscle spasms and stims can be referred to as tics and can even cause a misdiagnosis of TTD. Spasms and stims can be caused by anxiety. This does not mean that they are tics/functional tics. Anxiety is not a tic disorder.
Unpopular opinion? No one should ever accuse another person of faking a disability. Yes, it sucks that people fake disabilities. But as an ambulatory wheelchair user, someone who can walk sometimes and not other times, someone with two invisible disabilities...too many people have accused me of faking needing a wheelchair, faking Autism, that I could never do the same to anyone else, even if they really might be faking it. I should be able to stand up from my wheelchair and walk without fear of getting yelled at. I should be able to wear headphones, have loss of speech, and stim in public without people spreading rumors about me. I should be able to have tics without being accused of faking Tourette's (forgive me if I spelled that wrong, I don't have it, I simply have tics that are caused by my FND). Disabled people should be able to live their lives without being questioned on whether or not they're ACTUALLY disabled, or being talked about behind their back.
People with psychotic disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with personality disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with substance abuse disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with tic disorders are neurodivergent too.
People with bipolar disorder are neurodivergent too.
People with dissociative disorders are neurodivergent too.
Neurodivergence isn’t just ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression. (Plus those last two also get left out sometimes!) Neurodivergence is anything that affects your brain.
“Neurodivergent people hate loud noises” is actually just as valid as a statement as “neurodivergent people have delusions,” “neurodivergent people have tics,” or even “neurodivergent people have low empathy.”

Silly comic about my tics :PP I don't think they get much of it in the daycare so cue accidental insensitivity and confusion
He's trying his best
Bonus :))
Disabled people should be allowed to exist in public. Yes, I mean all disabled people.
That includes people with tic disorders.
That includes people who smell ‘bad’.
That includes people who can’t help being loud.
That includes people who move ‘strangely’.
That includes people with bulky mobility aids.
That includes people who drool.
That includes people who struggle with incontinence.
We all should get to exist, however that looks, and go out in public, use public transport, do activities outside our homes. And we should be allowed to do those things without being glared at or having ableist things said to us.
