@bereft-of-frogs tagged me in the 9 books I want to read in 2025 post!
Covers below
It’s that time of year again! Autumn: The season of change, death, and rebirth. 🍁 There’s always something so magical about this time of year, and what better way to celebrate than with an annual witchy read?!
It’s been great to fall back into reading with this one, and definitely perfect for the season at hand. ✨
What are you reading? 🤓
Threadneedle by Cari Thomas. Excellent coming-of-age witchy tale with just enough darkness woven though the pages to keep readers at the edge of their seat while still leaving space for joy. And the magic and worldbuilding are terrific! I read this in a day and a half; couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to book 2! “Stitch in, stitch back.”

Threadneedle: Book Review
Hi y'all! I'm back, and I honestly would have written this up sooner since I finished this book over the weekend, but the timing just never lined up. So, here are my thoughts, feelings, and ramble on...
june 9th 2021 • hi! i’m very happy with myself (well mostly ahah) because i’ve had a lot going on today and i managed to do everything on my list *and* also studied for an hour. i also procrastinated on my phone but i’m working on it ahah. also, the sun is setting and it is bathing the bedrooms with rose light and it is glorious *.* now i’m going to settle in bed with rita and basil and read for a bit.
Threadneedle || Cari Thomas || The Language of Magic #1 || 576 pages -------------------------------------------------------------------- Top 3 Genres: Fantasy / Young Adult / Magic
Synopsis: Within the boroughs of London, nestled among its streets, hides another city, filled with magic.
Magic is the first sin. It must be bound.
Ever since Anna can remember, her aunt has warned her of the dangers of magic. She has taught her to fear how it twists and knots and turns into something dark and deadly.
It was, after all, magic that killed her parents and left her in her aunt’s care. It’s why she has been protected from the magical world and, in one year’s time, what little magic she has will be bound. She will join her aunt alongside the other Binders who believe magic is a sin not to be used, but denied. Only one more year and she will be free of the curse of magic, her aunt’s teachings and the disappointment of the little she is capable of.
Nothing – and no one – could change her mind before then. Could it?
