The borders proved permeable. (Borders do, generally. I have seen mice flatten themselves to squirm through inch-high cracks in a wall. And mice have nothing on desperate men.)

Writers, I’ve been wondering about something
What’s the moment you realized, "Yeah… writing is my thing?" A random idea? A character voice? A scene that wouldn’t leave you alone?
If you ever want someone to read your chapters and share calm, honest thoughts, you can always message me. I enjoy telling stories with people who love them.
For the last four months, I’ve been quietly working to revive the Carolina Quarterly, a literary journal that originated at UNC—Chapel Hill in 1948. I’m delighted to announce that we will be opening up submissions for Issue 73.1 on February 1! We accept poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art for consideration. We are a paying and print journal. Please consider submitting your work or passing this news along to others who might be interested in doing so. Reopening submissions is a significant milestone my team and myself have worked toward, and I can’t wait to see the payoff when 73.1 comes together. 🥀
