johnny always makes me laugh bc like he doesnt have to say flame on. its not a prerequisite. he can light on fire without saying flame on. entirely optional
"I think 616 Johnny is who Ultimate Johnny would want to be. "
It doesn't help that 616 Johnny is older than ultimate Johnny (who must be, at most, 21).
And ult! Johnny... he wants to, but, at the same time, he knows he would never be like him. Not just because his fantastic four broke up: After everything he's done and been through as an X-Man, he doesn't think he could return to active duty without considering the situation of mutants, without doing things that would make him more controversial with the public.
He would look at this older version and think, "How come you never cared? He (Iceman) was your friend," or, if he knew about the Negative Zone, it would be, "Why did you stop?! You were doing great!"
616 Johnny isn't that much older than Ultimate Johnny. He just looks older with the mustache now. And because Reed's family were aged up 8 years but him and Ben and Alicia weren't. He's at most 5 years older. He's closer to Franklin and Valeria's ages than Sue is to his now I think?
Keep in mind Ultimate Johnny isn't as mature as 616 Johnny or even as he used to be in some ways. Like he could be faking it but I think he doesn't dwell on the emotional side of things much anymore and just tries to be as happy as possible (see USM #200) so him meeting his 616 self would probably force him to be emotional and (after maybe crying) he might be really angry at him (before finding out their Bobby is gay... 50/50 he's supportive or does gay jokes at his own Bobby in my mind. Or both.)

Icetorch being so underrated is only because marvel doesn’t invest in all its characters
Bobby gets almost nothing in terms of storylines and character development (more so now). I already have many posts on my annoyance with this so I won’t go into it.
Johnny can also have similar problems, but he gets double the character development and storylines Bobby does (it hinges on if the writer knows how to write him or if they can only make him surface level).
And they had a (kinda) close relationship and yet they don’t really talk much in canon anymore (or really ever, most of the time they’re fighting with each other or their relationship is brought up in passing even though they have multiple interactions). I want to see what they do for fun and who else they hang out with together; they’re close enough Johnny was one of the first people Bobby came out to. Marvel? Let them hang?!
Uhhhgg anyways icetorch best fire ice ship in marvel comics
That one part from the 1996 Romeo and Juliet but it’s my oc x canon ship
