Jotun Loki
Loki - Thor 2011
Chapter 2 - The Sceptre
Loki x (Fem) Reader
Word Count: 950 (oof)
Summary: You are about to settle in for the night when you are startled by two palace guards at your door telling you that king Odin requests your presence. What is so important that the king requests your presence at this hour?
Warnings: None (maybe Odin being kinda mean, don’t think it warrants any warnings though)
Author’s Note: Sorry this story has a really long beginning before the character even begins to be around Loki but the reason for that is because I’m trying to make it feel that it is actually plausible that these events occured in the “background” of Avengers 2012. I did my research people! I’m trying to make this semi-realistic for all my Loki fans out there!
It is late at night and you are sitting in your castle quarters, reading a book, your long legs stretched out across your bed sheets when you hear a loud knock at your door. You get up, your long nightgown brushing against the gold floor and open the door, finding yourself face to face with two palace guards.
“Lady Y/L/N?” Asks one of the guards.
“Yes?” You reply, your voice ridden with sleepiness.
“King Odin has requested your presence in the throne room.” The guard says.
“King Odin? Calls for me? At this hour? Why for?” You ask, suddenly struck with worry and fear that you are in trouble or that something bad has happened to one of your friends.
“I’m afraid that information was not disclosed to us.” Says the other guard, grabbing you by the arm and pulling you into the hallway. You quickly shake him off.
“Do not touch me, I am perfectly capable of walking on my own, thank you. You may leave.” You say and begin to make your way to Odin in the throne room.
You feel a slight bit of shame as you walk towards the big golden doors that lead to the throne room wearing nothing but your nightgown, but what could you do? The guards had literally pulled you out of your room. If Odin really needed you urgently, he would have to deal with your petty attire. You pushed open the tall doors and walked down the long carpet until you were met with the base of the throne, Odin sitting atop it, awaiting you. You knelt, as was custom when addressing the king.
“My king.” You said, placing your arm across your chest and tilting your head to the ground. “You requested my presence?”
“Yes. What I am about to tell you is very private information, known only to Heimdall and myself. It is of utmost importance that you speak of what I am about to tell you to no one.” Said Odin.
“Of course. I will not speak of it.” You replied.
“Good.” Said Odin. “You were...close, with Loki. Which is why I have chosen you for this. Among the fact that you are also a warrior and goddess of intelligence.”
“Loki? He’s dead. Why do you say his name? Chosen me for what?” You say, tears brimming in your eyes at the very thought of the prince.
“No. Heimdall has just seen him. He is on Earth, he is not dead. He has been hiding from us. Though we do not know how.” Says Odin.
“Loki’s alive?” You say, almost with anger. How did they not know? What has become of him since he let go? Is he okay? Your thoughts race.
“Yes. But his presence on Earth is dangerous. His intentions are not good. He has already hurt and killed many people. Heimdall suggested that I send you to retrieve him. That you may be able to stop him from hurting others considering how close you are with him. I was wary to heed his words however, as I do not know if you can be trusted, if your love for him will not get in the way of stopping him and bringing him home.” Said Odin. His words were not kind. They were spiteful and threatening. He did not trust you. And how could he? Loki had attempted to take the throne and betray him once before, and tried to kill off the entire race of Jotuns. You had known and yet did nothing to stop him in the past. You wanted him to be king. He was intelligent, and as his best friend as well as goddess of intelligence, you could not ignore the fact that Loki would make an amazing king. But this time it was different. He had no reason for being on Midgard and hurting mortals. You knew this time he had to be stopped. You hoped it wasn’t too late, and wondered why he was doing this?
“I assure you, my king, I will not betray you. I am the goddess of intelligence. I will make the right choices. I will not fail you.” You said.
“Good.” Odin said. “Know that if you do betray me, I will show you nor Loki mercy, as you would be committing treason.” Odin’s words were still cold towards you, threatening. Did he truly hate Loki so much that he hated you too? “Get dressed, you leave now.”
You arrived at where the bifrost used to be, prepared for whatever was to come in your full battle armour. You wore black leather boots, plated with white-gold for protection and tight dark blue leather pants. Your bodice was made up of a tunic made from a woven fabric in a slightly lighter shade than your pants wrapped in a black leather corset. Your arms were covered with chain-mail, once again made up of precious white-gold. More white-gold armour completely covered your chest and shoulders and came in between your breasts before splitting into two lines extending downward and wrapping around to your back, circular plates covering your vital organs. The placement of the white-gold armour was very similar to Thor’s. It was a practical design, but the colour was your own personal flair. Because you are only a warrior in training you wore white-gold rather than silver, as it was stronger. Finally, you carried two sharp daggers, made up of fire opal with gold handles. They were a gift to you from Lady Sif when you first started training under her.
“Good luck, young warrior.” Said Heimdall as he watched Odin burn through dark matter to send you to Earth. It was risky, but the bifrost had been destroyed, and someone had to stop Loki.
