The character I least understand Tolkien is very good at giving everyone understandable motivations, including the villains. Maybe Saruman for thinking he stood a snowball's chance in Angband of beating Sauron. If we're talking the movies, Elrond. Elrond what do you mean 'Men are weak'. Your grandfather was a Man. Your brother was a Man. Elrond what.

Interactions I enjoyed the most The Three Hunters and Merry and Pippin meeting again and immediately insulting each other and Théoden's response being "It cannot be doubted that we witness the meeting of dear friends." Also I have to mention the bit in Unfinished Tales where Saruman makes fun of Gandalf for smoking and then secretly starts smuggling pipeweed out of the Shire for himself.

The character who scares me the most Shelob 😬

The character who is mostly like me Fatty Bolger, I guess: content to stay at home and support the adventure from afar. I have always thought I'm most like a Dwarf though (secretive, creative, fond of language and dark spaces).

Hottest looks character I'm just gonna say Aragorn or Faramir so I don't have to think about it for too long 😆

One thing I dislike about my fave character I'm not coming up with anything on the spot and if I let myself wait until I do this will languish in my drafts forever so I'm just going to move on again lol. Actually, does Faramir being butchered by the adaptation count

One thing I like about my hated character The villains always have such excellent prose in their descriptions that is far better than they deserve. "But none could rival her, Shelob the Great, last child of Ungoliant to trouble the unhappy world."

A quote or scene that haunts me Far too many. How about the scene at the Black Gate when everyone is half convinced Frodo is captured and the Quest failed but they still hold on to hope. Or the Pyre of Denethor: "Authority is not given to you, Steward of Gondor, to order the hour of your death."

A death that left me indifferent Tolkien can always get me to feel for people, even the most minor characters like Háma. I guess I would like more information on the battles around Dale and the deaths of Brand and Dáin that are mentioned in the Appendices.

A character I wish died but didn’t ...Bill Ferny, I guess? I had to look up whether he gets killed onscreen and the answer is apparently no, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
