Me as a Mom This is my baby. She is already 2 years old, but I assume she will forever remain my baby. I am no expert in Momming, I have only been privileged to call myself a mom for 4 and a half years. In career terms, that is a lot of experience. In parenting, you have barely scratched the surface. I can tell you that being a parent is tough. Every single day you cycle through EVERY SINGLE emotion you can possibly experience. From excitement that they woke up in a good mood, to joy that they slept through the night, to shock as you remember you forgot sports day, to surprise as you realise your baby can open the fridge, to anger as you hear the beeping of said fridge – she never closed the door. They teach you so much. Like the weight that you can actually carry – a kid on each hip, or pull – a kid on each leg, or push – kids in a trolley already packed full with groceries. They teach you how to pronounce your words better – a bitter lesson we had to learn FAST. They teach you about patience, how to have fun no matter what the situation (ever seen kids in a long queue? Doesn’t seem to phase them), how to sing really as if nobody is listening (because they most probably are not. The moment your mouth opens their ears close) and dance as if nobody is watching. Being a mom is not just fun and games, but it is rewarding. To see your heart walking outside of your body. To have a second chance at changing the world. I am a mom. We have been a family of 4 for one week. It has been so damn rough. Crayton is still adapting to not being the center of attention anymore. He is such a big helper though and I love him so damn much. I am still successfully breast feeding. Just pumped 2 ½ oz and I’m so proud that I stuck with it. Happy one week my baby girl.
