The worst thing about other peoples' Shattered Glass fics is that they take Ratchet's rose-tinted narrative about "the golden age" at face value, despite the casual mention of a caste system, and uncritically absorb how the TFP's and IDW1's writers villainize fighting oppression and portray it as a slippery slope to evil.
So a lot of fanfic writers completely uncritically just switch Optimus' and Megatron's castes and backstories, as well as the Autobots' and the Decepticons' origins, and in doing so maintain every bit of the problematic narrative.
Aside from the evident lack of critical thinking skills, copying canon and just replacing the groups with each other and replacing every character with the one you deem to be their Autobot/Decepticon counterpart and maintaining the canon script almost completely unaltered is also extremely unoriginal.
And if you just novelize canon scene for scene and line for line, you are not really writing anything. You're just plagiarizing.
