Itâs not about automatically knowing what you want right away. Itâs about asking yourself what you want so that you can think about it and explore that concept rather than trying to pinpoint a 100%-specifically-made-for-you-no-doubts-about-it label. You donât have to know right away, but if you never ask yourself what you want, youâll never figure it out. And pinning down what you want (to connect with a community, to not feel alone, to find people who can maybe kinda relate to your experience, to find a way to present that makes you happy, to be able to let go of anxiety over a label so you can explore you feelings more, to be able to give yourself a break and relax, to work towards self-acceptance, to better understand nonbinary experiences, etc. - there are so many things you could want!) can often be easier and more effective to explore rather than âwhat am I?â The point of asking yourself something is to be able to explore it, and âwhat do I wantâ is a much more open and comfortable and evolving concept than âwhat am Iâ.
