Trying to keep the cold out with tea and homemade bread. Yes, that is a huge chunk of butter, and yes, that is my norm. The bread is an unmeasured mix of white, wheat, and oat flour, and it is delicious. Sweet from the oats and a little bit of honey, but satisfying as all good cobs should be. It could have used a little more time in its second proof, but even so it was delicate with a crisp crust. I simply cannot watch The Great British Bake Off without craving a cup of tea and a pastry. A cup of tea and a good book- just what these cold, blustery afternoons need. I finished this book, La Belle Sauvage- Part 1 of The Book of Dust, yesterday evening after a marathon of reading.
