The Bakers, a Musketeers GBBO AU
Once he finished prepping his dough, Aramis hailed a producer over to make sure he was being filmed as he put it in the proving drawer, and after setting his timer, looked around to see what everyone else was doing.
Anne and Louis were talking to that blond guy now, Rochefort. Louis liked to make a lot of cheese references around him. But apparently Anne knew him from when she lived in Spain as a child. He was her tutor or something. And then the gossip was that he went to prison at some point after that for insider trading. He hadn’t been particularly friendly towards Aramis and the other bakers so far, but he certainly had no problem laying out niceties for the hosts and judges. Here to win and not for the experience, it seemed.
He swept his gaze over the rest of the tent. Behind Rochefort was Lemay, a doctor, washing flour off his hands. In front of Rochefort, Constance, a seamstress, was measuring out her ingredients. In front of her the kid, d’Artagnan, a student, was seemingly writing invisible numbers in the air with his finger before shrugging and dumping his ingredients into a bowl. In front of him, Athos, a fencing instructor, was stirring and repeatedly glancing over at baker-Anne’s station across the way. He recalled how the man had visibly stiffened when Anne had first been introduced to the group before they all got onto the bus from the hotel. He thought Athos had perhaps been simply struck by her beauty, but the way he looked at her leaned more toward suspicion rather than adoration. Another mystery.
In front of Athos was Sylvie, who worked for a housing organization and looked to be in thought as she fiddled with her necklace. Starting off the other column of bakers was Anne, who worked as a florist, then former nurse, now stay-at-home mum, Agnes, who looked to be searching for something on her station, then it was him, then Porthos, who was a former army captain now working as a stuntman and whom he was becoming fast friends with, and finally Elodie, a military widow.
All in all an interesting mix of people.
