The Child in Time - things that I love:
the sight of that single toothbrush in the holder, enough to tell us everything we needed to know about Stephen’s solitary days & nights
when Stephen arrives at Julie’s cottage, you can hear the wind coming off the sea through the whole scene, and even when they are making love; there’s something so beautiful about it, and I didn’t really take note of it until I saw it on my own tv last night, instead of my notebook’s very small screen
the scene between Stephen & his Mum, when she tells him that she saw him as a little boy looking in the window, on the day she told his dad she was expecting *sniffle* - jeezus that was gorgeous enough to make me barely breath, hanging upon the words
the small smile Stephen wears as he’s running to the underground station, knowing what Ward 17 is, and what surely awaits him; indeed, the very way he runs, his long strides, the joy of it waiting to break forth
I *think* what gets me the most though, is how natural it looks for Kate to be sitting, waiting for Stephen as he comes down the hospital corridor, and how she slips her hand in his, and that we know that no matter what, she will always be there--forever loved by her parents, in her absentia--holding their hands, as she hold their hearts
(please feel free to add things you love to this post--my heart is in need of it at the moment)
