So the other day I saw this amazing advert for National Theatre at Home on Facebook.
I actually have a subscription that some friends bought me for my birthday and perhaps because of the way this feeds into The Algorithms I frequently get ads for the plays on there that I already have access to.
Anyway, this new ad had Benedict Cumberbatch sitting on a chair talking in a very prosaic way, interspersed with very stylised clips of flower petals falling onto the empty chair, etc. etc. Admittedly my first thought was "oh my god what is this new brilliant one-person play that allows me to just watch Benedict Cumberbatch talking for presumably an hour or more?!? This looks AMAZING!"
And no, it was an advert for... itself. For the concept of National Theatre at Home. Which I already have. And I still loved it.
