23 miles (I paused my watch at a stop light and forgot to restart it!) on my 28th birthday! Miles 16-19 were a shitshow, uphill in crazy wind, but beyond that it wasn't bad. Hard, but good. Oh, and I hit over 100 miles in September for the first time ever! And now the taper begins!
Hi fiends!!! Sorry I've been slacking posting lately! Just been busy :) W17D5 - easy 3.7 I ran during lunch at work last Friday! In the morning I heard some guys next to me talking about lifting, and they asked me if I wanted to join. I told them no thanks that I was running at lunch! But one of the guys said he'd much rather run and asked if he could join me. Of course I said yes! We ran a bit faster than I should have, but we went a bit shorter so I think I evened out! It was nice to have a running buddy! :) Friday night I headed to MI for Scotts birthday! We went out to dinner on Friday and it was really nice to just spend the evening together again :) W17D6 - easy 8 Saturday I headed out for my run alone. I was deciding between 4 and 6 miles when I headed out, but once I got going I decided I felt good so I'd do 6. But scott called me right as I passed mike 2 and said if I turn around he's join me for the rest. Of course I did! I actually felt really good on this run! Once scott joined me we picked up the pace a bit not even on purpose but I just felt great. We decided to make it so I hit 8 miles to get my "long" run done for the weekend. I felt relaxed the whole time and it was so nice to run with Scott again :) Saturday we went out for some drinks with friends! It was a good time! W17D7 - rest! I didn't plan to take a rest day on Sunday, but I opted to to spend more time relaxing and hanging out with scott on his birthday weekend. It was totally worth it :) I had a great weekend in Michigan hanging out with scott! Got some good runs in too. And not I'm officially in the final week!!! Eek! Excited for race day!! :) Hope you all had good weekends!!
8.5 sunrise km’s this morning. Really on the wind down now. I’m feeling a whirlwind of emotions that frankly at times are overwhelming and negative voices have been getting me down more then I care to admit.
I know I need to take a deep breath and reset, however that is easier said then done done sometimes!
And I’m back 😁 13km for N dog and I this morning plus another sunrise. Cold and crisp it was the perfect run morning ❤️

Indy Mini W17D4 - TEMPO 5 The last hard run is done!!! I had to run this during my lunch due to commitments after work, which meant I had to cut my warm up and cool down short. I know this run is supposed to essentially just be a confidence booster before the race, so I wasn't too worried about it. When I started this run I just wasn't feeling it. I first told myself to just do 3 tempo miles and call it good. I'm not gonna make any gains between now and race day anyway. Once I got to 1.5 tempo miles, I told myself to just keep going and run out to 3 miles so I'll at least do 6 miles, but I can cut the tempo miles short and do a longer cool down to make it easier. But once I turned around at mile 3, I knew I could do all 5 tempo miles. The constant bargains that go on while I run amuse me sometimes :) Once I got over the ehh feeling at the beginning, I actually felt good on this run! Definitely come confidence boosting and now I'm excited to enter into the taper! I am really looking forward to race day to see what I can do :) Happy Friday!!! :)
Chicago W17D5 - easy 6 Forgot to post this last night for some reason! Ran these after work. It was wet, but never really rained while I was running. Just took these nice and slow and stayed relaxed. Enjoying the taper :) Glad it's the weekend! :)
3 sleeps to Vineman 70.3
This taper seems a lot less dramatic than other tapers. Maybe it is because I only tapered for 2 weeks? I ran 4 miles yesterday and am thinking about swimming 1000 meters tonight. The hay will truly be in the barn at that point. Let's do this!
