Today is Day 50 of my daily posts on Biodynamic Meditation. I’m halfway to my original goal of making 100 posts on Instagram/Facebook so that the hashtag #biodynamicmeditation will have 100+ posts. :-) Gotta start somewhere, right? It’s a first step in making this practice something that exists in the world, something that has a name and can be learned. At some point, if the right conditions converge, I’d like to begin teaching it in person. For now, I’m sharing my daily practice while considering who needs this and how to teach it. I’ve learned a lot about the autonomic nervous system in various trainings and from personal experience. This practice has helped me experience — not just cognitively understand — the difference when I’m in sympathetic mode (fight or flight, anxiety, taking action) and when I’m in parasympathetic mode (rest and digest, building resources, self-healing). When I am feeling anxious about some threat that’s only in my mind, not in the present moment, what’s that about? Do you do that too? Why do we do that, anyway? Are we rehearsing for potential dangers? Is it useful, or does it just add stress and sap healing resources from our lives? Because when you’re in sympathetic mode, your resources are ready to take action. When you’re in parasympathetic mode, your resources can maintain, repair, and heal. I’ve learned that many people are chronically anxious, and it can contribute to other health issues, which then further the anxiety. How do we break that cycle? This practice of Biodynamic Meditation can help you distinguish your experience of these states. It can help you learn to switch from an anxious state to a calm state… …just by bringing your attention into your body and sensing your tide, for a start. But first, it takes practice. #craniosacralbiodynamics #craniosacraltherapy #autonomicnervoussystem #sympatheticnervoussystem #parasympatheticnervoussystem #practice #anxiety #healthissues #resources #breakthecycle #attention #interoception #tide https://www.instagram.com/p/CmwotYJJ4ZA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
