BatFam & Symbiotic Reader: AU - First Meeting - Lex Luthor's POV
(Basically I've been reading way too many cute Bruce X Lex, and Clark X Lex fanfictions, and now I wanted to add in the cute moments in my head. Also, if anyone want to draw the cute scene, please let me know. Trigger Warning: Violence, throwing up, child abuse, and misuse of power.
Lex Luthor had faced Aliens, Superheroes, Villains of many forms, and even a deranged Clown with a fetish for Bats, but even he could say that he was not expecting this.
He had placed one of his many outstanding employees as a spy for 'Cosmos Corps', an organization that studied and explore the possibility of Alien life throughout the Milky Way Galaxy and beyond.
At first, everything seemed to be easy. Infiltrate the organization, find out the true purpose of its creation, and if it fits into Lex's plans of destroying Superman once and for all, start funding it.
Of course, the plan was simple on paper, even with the curious eyes of reporters and the Justice League looking into every detail, Cosmos Corps was truthful in their statement: "To study the unknow is to learn of Humanities true existence. For researching the Universe and the Unknow that lays beyond our galaxy, we better understand and control threats that wish to do Humanity harm."
Even going as far as promising that "Peace may come to our World once again as our research and exploration provide us with a better understanding of what is friend and what is foe." It was a simple statement that pleased civilians and politicians alike and left the public with hope for the future. But Lex had a feeling that there was more than exploring the far reaches of the Galaxy.
That's where Ms. Jane Smith came in, a scientist with a passion for the Unknown and personally picked by Mercy for her unamusing looks and overwhelming ability for gathering information.
Lex would receive updates like clockwork, as it was already signed in contract that Luthor would provide funding and some other supplies as needed, just as long as he would be able to 'keep in touch' with the progress.
Ms. Smith would provide updates every few weeks, nothing that the other scientists or researcher would find suspicious. This went on for a few years, before Lex received one final update from Ms. Smith.
"Sir, I'm sorry. My position has been compromised, and I know that this might be the last you hear from me until I can get to a safe place, but I needed to get this message to you as fast as I possible could."
*Sounds of gun fire and people screaming, running can be heard as she continues to talk*
"They aren't just sending out people to space; they're bringing something else back with them. I wasn't able to get a good look, but I know that many homeless people have been brought in for the experiments. Whatever they are doing, dead bodies are stacking up at an alarming rate."
*Sound of glass and walls breaking grows louder and closer to her*
"Sir, please. They are not rational people anymore. The funding of money and Kryptonite has done something to them. It's not only the homeless anymore, but also children and parents. People in higher power. I don't have any more time. I managed to rescue one of the victims, we are heading towards the sewer. Please if you get this send so-." The message cuts off with a sickening crack and what sounds like someone gargling on their own blood.
The last thing that both Lex and Mercy heard before the message cuts off for good, is a little child crying and what sounds like bones breaking and slurping noises.
Mercy quickly turns it off as Lex hurls into a nearby garage can, his breakfast and lunch forcing its way out of his stomach and into the half-filled garage can.
It takes a few minutes for Lex's stomach to settle, but once he is able to stand, he orders Mercy to activate Jane's tracking device.
It takes a few hours to track Jane down to the outskirts of Central City, down into an abandoned Sewer drain.
~~~~~~Lex's POV starting NOW
As I follow Mercy down the dark and damp tunnel, my thoughts turn towards Jane's last message, what exactly she managed to 'rescue', and if she was still alive.
'Of course she's alive. She was hand-picked by Mercy; she wouldn't have gone down that easily.' I thought as I soon noticed the smell of death, a rotting sweet scent that was slightly familiar to me.
Mercy stops me a few paces back as her light catches on something in the distance; a name badge, a pair of broken glasses, and a shiny purple-like sludge that was rocking back and forth.
The thing seems to be around the height of an 8 year old, but as it begins to slowly turn towards us, I come to realize that my greatest nightmare has been answered.
I don't truly remember what happened after the creature, child? Yes, it had to be some kind of child as it was crying and repeating the words "I'm sorry" in a thousand different voices.
When I come to, I'm in the back of the limo when Mercy driving like a bat out of Hell. Her face full of scratches and her jacket torn to pieces.
I could easily see the claw marks and bite wounds on her right arm as she races back to the office, or maybe my penthouse, I wasn't sure.
I tried to order her to turn back, that we had to rescue Jane. However, her words made me faint for the rest of the ride.
"She's gone Lex. All I could see of her that was in that thing's arms was her head with the top of her skull missing."
~~~~Months pass
I pace back and forth in my office, the opposite of the calm and collective that I had been after the unfortunate meeting with Superman and Batman.
"A child, a child has been causing all that destruction and madness in the world of Villains." I mumble to myself as I hear a glass door opening, but I ignore it as the possibility's spreads like a freshly opened bottle of champagne.
It doesn't occur that I had an uninvited guest until the light smell of chocolate reach my nose.
I turn towards the source and look down in a mix of awe and terror as the thing that haunted my dreams sits by the open glass door that goes to the office balcony with what appears to be a fresh chocolate chip cookie in their 'hands'.
We stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time, before the cookie is replaced with a metallic disk-like object.
It raises its 'arms' towards me, as if it wants me to take it.
But after a few seconds of silence, it comes to the realization that I wasn't going to take the object.
It pulls the object back towards its chest and seems to struggle to explain its reasoning behind the action.
"M-Ms w-wans hawe." it stumbles over its words, like it's a baby speaking its first words, or if it was trying to speak a new language.
It waves the disk again and a low growl, or a rumble of an empty stomach, penetrates the still air.
"Hwgery." It mumbles as it pulls out the chocolate chip cookie again and looks between the tasty snack and the disk of such great importance.
Something maternal washes over me as I watch it struggle to choose, and I find my feet has already led me to the creature before my mind could make sense of what I was seeing.
"Here, that way you can eat while I look this over." I compromised as I bent down to its level and reached out my own hands to take the disk from the creature.
It lets out a cooing noise as it places the disk into my hands and takes a big bite out of the cookie once the disk is not of the jaw range.
I let out a cough to cover the pleasant feeling in my chest as I stand up and make my way back towards the desk.
A few clicks and a quick insert of the disk into the compute provides me with the information I need to know who the 'Ms' was.
I tune out the noise of the creature eating its cookie behind me as Jane's face pops up on my screen. What little information she provides through the short video is enough to set my teeth on edge.
I turn to my watch, ready to call for Mercy, when I notice that the creature is gone, the glass door closed and a small bite size of the chocolate chip cookie is left in the creatures' place.
A shiny, yet somewhat slimy, purple message reads 'For Ms's Boss', as I walk back to pick up what was left of the cookie.
I place the bize size cookie into my mouth and chew. The delicious taste of a freshly baked cookie turns my attention back to the situation at hand.
"Mercy, I need you in my office. And please send a message to Bruce Wayne as soon as possible, I have a few questions to ask him."
