Im watching a little featurette and the sherman brothers are talking about making the songs for the jungle book and one of them goes, and I quote, “Now vultures are kind of gruesome, they, y’know, they’re gruesome birds because there’s not anything they don’t eat. So uh we had the line, ‘I never met an animal I didn’t like,’ we thought that was kind of fun.” (Laughs) “So we- we started with that and that was our basic idea, plus the fact that in order to throw Mowgli off, they wanted to sound like this friendly group of birds, and what’s friendlier than a barbershop quartet, y’know?”
