Season 15, Episode 17: Unity (September 10th)
Dean and Jack go off to perform the final ritual needed to stop Chuck, as Sam and Castiel search for another way. Meanwhile, Chuck returns to Earth and prepares His endgame. -Super-Wiki
Originally aired on October 29th, 2020.
Written by Meredith Glynn, directed by Catriona McKenzie.
Fun fact: per IMDB, "When Sam and Castiel are searching for Death's Key, Sam pulls a cup out of one of the boxes that could arguably be the holy grail."

Just watched 15x17 Unity where Dean says "Jack's not family" so I ship Sastiel now actually.
Unity 15x17 - is once again killing me See previous ways it tortures me including confirming Cas invented free will (x) and Chuck revealing that the future Sam saw in The Trap was a fake (x)
The Empty confirms what we knew from S5 and 13, it was a lie that Chuck is unable to affect the Empty. Chuck and Jack have brought Cas back from the dead numerous times. Chuck is an unreliable narrator and he lies.
But it also said that Sam is supposed to play a role in Chuck's death. Immediately, thought, the empty admits that it can't read Chuck's death book, only Billie can do that. ... Which means that any information we get from the empty is actually from Billie, another possibly unreliable source.
Then just to put the cherry on the cake, the empty reminds the viewer that the empty can't come to earth. Not until it's summoned.
Okay. So the set up for the confession I get. But why point out that Chuck had dominion over the empty all along? Why revive and build up that lore unless it's going to MATTER in some way? Michael has already been brought back, and tbh nobody needed Lucifer back unless they were going to do something interesting with the fact that he was right about Chuck all along. This scene firmly establishes in the text that Chuck and therefore Jack have the power to bring Cas back. The subtext had become text.
No doubt, no meta, no fanon. Jack just. Can.
But the scene also sets up that Sam is supposed to play an important role in Chuck's death (if Billie can be believed and that anything the empty says about it is only as reliable as Billie is.) But does he? He raised Jack, but that's been done. They could have proceeded from here without him just fine. So what is it that Sam does to defeat Chuck?
Sam does one thing. He defies Billie's and therefore Chuck's plan.
So which is it? Is Sam the reason TFW2.0 defeated Chuck rather than falling into the trap spoonfed to them by Billie? Or was Billie's plan all a farce set up for them by Chuck? It doesn't work. It doesn't make sense. It makes about as much sense as dropping Cas's fading grace storyline after Rupture and Golden Time.
Why bother to set these things up, to set up Jack's power over the empty, unless the finale two episodes later was going to pick up on all of this. "no changes" my ass.
Re: Adam & Seraphina
I don’t know about you but I personally viewed them as Dean/Cas mirror.
Because if Dean equals Humanity (Adam) and Seraphina is an angel and we look at what the name is - supposedly - derived from which is "Seraph"/"Seraphim" - what other angel do we know that's a seraph? Cas. (Which, tbh, I had totally forgotten.)
So, I looked up some definitions and came across these:
“The word seraphim means “the fiery one” [...]
The word “seraphim” is the plural form of the Hebrew root word “saraph,” which means, “to burn.” [...]The seraphim seem to bear a resemblance to humans,[...]“
Mentions of seraphim in the Islam: "Seraphim (Sarufiyyun or Musharifin) are mentioned in [...] a conversation between Muhammad and God, during the Night Journey, concerning what is between the Heavens and the earth, often interpreted as a reference to the "Exalted assembly" disputing the creation of Adam in Surah 38:69″
Exalted Assembly refers to the Angels: -By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). -By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way.
(One translation of 38:69 is: “Muhammad Sarwar: I have no knowledge of the dispute among the angels (concerning their attitude towards Adam).”)
So, there already is a connection between seraphim and Adam.
What I found intruiging concerning the “mirror interpretation” is this:
“The seraphim also minister to God and serve as His agents of purification.
When Isaiah noticed that the heavenly seraphim covered themselves before God to acknowledge their unworthiness before the Lord, the prophet became aware of his own mortal sinfulness and feared for his life. At that point, one of the seraphim picked up a burning coal “with tongs from the altar,” brought the live coal to Isaiah, and touched it to Isaiah’s lips. (Isaiah 6:6-7). This act purified Isaiah’s sins by fire, as the seraph assured Isaiah that now his “guilt is taken away and [his] sin atoned for.”
This is the most common image for it:
Sounds and looks familar?
And of course we have Chuck’s callback to that moment at the end of the episode...
