It's strange to see people reacting like Jensen's said something new here. I've listened to pretty much everything he's ever said on the topic and, as far as I can tell, he's always understood that scene to be a confession of romantic love on Cas's part.¹
The part that Jensen's repeatedly pushed back against — and sometimes gotten exasperated or frustrated about — is the insistence of some fans that Dean must reciprocate Cas's feelings. He's been very clear about the fact that he understands Dean to be straight, that he's always played him as straight, and that he's never gotten guidance from writers or directors or showrunners that he should be playing him differently.²
Meanwhile, Jensen has consistently affirmed that Dean feels love for his dearest friends — which includes Cas — but he has also consistently avoided using language that suggests Dean feels romantic love for him, because he doesn't think that Dean does.
That's why Jensen describes their relationship by calling Cas "one of [Dean's] best friends," "one of his closest allies," "not only a brother-in-arms, but one of his closest — the closest people to him," and doesn't describe their relationship by calling Cas "the man he loves" or using other phrases that people usually reserve for romantic partners, like "his everything."³
In any case, what Jensen is trying to say seems pretty clear to me even without the above context, but with it, I'd call it beyond clear. When he says there's nothing to resolve, he's saying that (consistent with what he's said before) Cas & Dean were on the same page by the end of the scene. Dean understood Cas's feelings and Cas understood Dean's.
Weird take but I have huge grudge towards the background actors in the diner scene in 15x08, not throughout the entire scene but just at the end when Michael smites Lilith, when it pans around to the rest of the diner none of them look afraid enough, they all just look mildly shocked (except that one girl on the table behind Micheal when he leans over the booth, that girl look traumatized and I appreciate it) and it just takes me out of his whole 'Archangel power thing that Jabel had going on.
things that are gay according to eric kripke
umbrellas ("the boys aren't scared of demons but they're scared of a little rain?")
spells and magic ("they'd beat up harry potter")
any additions?
They really said, you know what fuck it, there’s too much established Mary & John canon to trip over, this is an alt-verse, lolz

Look, since I'm going crazy on Twitter, I just wanna be a clown one last time here too. I agree with a lot of your theories and I also think that it would be so strange and extremely OOC if they would not at least try to bring back Castiel for one last ride. BUT I want to focus on pictures and interviews now.
1)
But (I will just copy and paste bc I'm lazy lmao):
IF THE DECLARATION WAS MISHA'S LAST SCENE EVER WHY DID HE TELL MICHAEL SHEEN 3 MONTHS AGO THAT HE HAD TO FILM 1 AND A HALF EPISODE?? AND 15X19 WAS A HALF?? WHY DIDN'T HE SAY AT THE DARKLIGHT CON THAT HE JUST WASN'T IN THE FINALE??
YOU DON'T THINK "OH I DON'T WANNA SAY THAT I'M NOT IN THE FINALE BECAUSE PEOPLE OTHERWISE WON'T WATCH IT" IF YOU ALREADY TOLD THEM THAT 15X18 WAS YOUR LAST EPISODE, YOU JUST HAVE TO REPEAT IT, BUT NO, YOU DIDN'T. WHY??
2)
September 4 vs. September 4.
Misha also wrote: "Days like this you kind of have to believe in God..."
It could be a coincidence, BUT remember Misha's picture and read this:
3)
Do you see what I see here?? I know that I'm just getting my hopes up probably, but this is all so strange, I had to write something about it.
In conclusion:
Do you know what I see here?
A man who says “please don’t do this now, there’s so much happening right now and I don’t know how to respond to you”
And let’s not forget about here:
All I see is a man who says “no please don’t do this cas, you are to important and I can’t give you what you want what you deserve”
Let’s just remember for a second that this was Cas’s revelation, not Dean’s. Even if Dean loves him back it is not his revelation of happiness that’s happing right here!
Dean still sees himself as broken an damaged. Like he can’t give cas what he deserved. He doesn’t want cas to confess or to love him because he does not feel capable of giving cas everything he thinks he deserves.
This scene was not about Dean getting over his repressed feelings and shame and all that stuff, it was about Cas realising what his true happiness is and finally, after eternity, getting to love in it. He didn’t need Dean to respond here, that wasn’t why he sait it, he needed to love his own happiness.
And also, to add, this right here:
Take away deans pining over the years, his best friend just confessed his feelings for him and then dies and it dawns upon him what his own feelings are.
Dean has just had his whole life thrown upside down and was preparing himself to die. Honesty, would anyone launch right to explaining their own feelings in a situation like this? I completely believe we will see Dean explain his feelings about all of this, but this scene wasn’t about that, it was about Cas
Dean slept with "doublemint(?) twins" in s03, which I always took to mean literal siblings; he asks where "the triplets and latex" are in heaven; he and Crowley apparently did things to triplets. Dean doesn't just have an incest kink, he's been involved in it 👀💖
you are correct anon and should say it 😂 He's a deviant!
