How Does Your Garden Grow?
Ours is currently growing in two locations as of today. This has been a 3 day process, but after some experimenting, some generous parents and some getting our hands dirty, we now have a balcony garden and cultivated space in a community garden.
This is what our little balcony haven looks like currently, at dusk.
The cedar box has a row of herbs, including parsley, Italian oregano, cilantro and thyme. The gap is where I am going to plant a garlic bulb. The terracotta pot on the ground contains "Red Sails" lettuce. The black box up on the barbecue shelf is Spicy basil.
And of course the ginger mint in the corner!
Our little garden does include flowers too. The plant in the foreground above contains my mini rosebush among other things. But what is really flowering and gorgeous right now is my "hanging" basket!
Purple and white petunias and those little white flowers along with it are SO fragrant. That was reason I bought this particular basket was for the fragrance, it is just delightful.
Along with this haven we are creating in preparation for summertime fun, we have been busy planting our garden as pictured below this post. We look forward to a harvest of cabbage, 5 colour Swiss Chard, kale, lettuce, carrots, green onion, cucumber and beets. Please don't ask me how quickly those tiny seeds will turn into big juicy vegetables or if it's even going to work, but in the mean time we will lovingly stare at our brown earth and wait for little green things to sprout out. This is quite a new experience for us! And we love it!
