Hey gang so it's that random time again when I am reminded that we in fact COULD HAVE gotten a six of crows spinoff series that HAD A SCRIPT AND EVERYTHING but netflix cancelled it because it wasn't big enough for them despite it would have brought in millions of viewers and it wouldn't have reached the very unrealistic standard of stranger things level. Soooo, here are some (of the many) things I would have been excited to see!!!!
The script and plot. Now, as common knowledge amongst us grishaverse fans, the tv show screwed us over. In season two it brought in numerous kanej scenes, brought wesper together, rushed s&b ending, put in a row death for literally no reason despite the character is NEEDED for plot if they ever made an s&b 3, the list goes on. However, they still had a script, and so I assume they solved most of the problems caused. Amita cried at the script because of how perfect it was. It must have at least tried to fix those problems.
The cast was literally perfect. I know Kit doesn't look canonically like Jes, but he plays the role so bloody well, like he just is Jesper atp. The cast were insane and they all loved playing their characters. Plus, the behind the scenes interactions are the sweetest.
The characters. I would have loved to see all the characters develop and grow into their roles more. It would have been great to see Jes come to terms with being grisha, Inej address her past and dreams, etc. It would have been great to see because s&b was FOR s&b and not soc so we didn't (very reasonably and understandably) get as much character development as we would have gotten from the spinoff.
The ice court heist. I would have adored to see how that would have been pulled off, because like, an ice court live action???????? That would be insane, genuinely insane (in a good way ofc).
Van Eck and Brum. It would be interesting who would ever dare to play two such despicable characters and how they would play them. Plus, it would be great for edits of Wy and Van Eck/Matthias and Brum.
The duos. More Inej and Jesper?????? More Nina and Wylan??????Matthias and Wylan??????? Jesper and Matthias????????? We are missing out. I want all the cool duos and the group interactions in general. The happiness the crows all together would have brought me would be high. Plussss, we could have gotten the "how do you steal a man's wallet?" and "my ghost won't associate with your ghost" conversations :(
Kanej. As previously addressed, kanej had a lotttt of their key moments in s&b 2. However, I would have loved to see what else they would do. Maybe we could have gotten some more cute kanej moments??????? But even so, just having kanej on our screens is reason enough for the spinoff. And and and, may I remind us all of when they get ambushed when sailing and Kaz carries Inej to the boat and it's super cute like wdym we can't see that wdym.
Helnik. WE NEVER SAW HELNIK DO THEIR ARC. Helnik's arc of enemies to sort of lovers to enemies to lovers will never be completed because the show was cancelled :( they never got their second lovers arc and that makes me sad :( think about all the helnik content we could have gotten. Robbed, we were, robbed.
Wesper. As shown by my current pfp (wesper fanart that isn't mine!!!!!!), I love love love wesper. And while it does bug me about how the show kind offffff messed them up, they are still my babies. We could have gotten more angst, more cuteness, more flirting. When they are breaking the gates and distracting the drunk guard men, I would have been giggling and kicking my feet. Also, the line. Not one from the book, but in the tv show we could have gotten an "I love you." + "I don't deserve you." with Jesper and Wylan and I feel robbed. That scene would have made me SOB, why do you want to take away my cute cute babies away from me netflix this is bullying >:( Anywayssss so there's my ranting done, I want the spinoff :(
